Description
* Contributes to the planning, designing, purchasing, and implementation of changes to the manufacturing equipment and systems while contributing to teams.
* Manufacturing Engineer position is dedicated to ergonomic improvement projects and ergonomics initiatives to provide a focused approach and increased output to ergonomic risk reduction at the site.
* Follow a process like 7 step methodology to identify the ergonomic risk, analyze process and data to determine direct causes, identify and verify the solution, and implement and monitor the solution.
* Lead and drive ergonomic improvements at site and influence change across Cummins and industry.
* Lead the Design Principles and Continuous Improvement components of the Site Ergonomics Strategy.
* Drive improving and designing ergonomics into processes and products as part of Plant Transformation and New Product Introduction.
* Bring their manufacturing, assembly, engineering, problem solving, and project management knowledge to solve various complexity ergonomic risks.
* Bring their technical and creative traits to enable the implementation of innovative and unique ergonomic solutions to address ergonomic risks.
* Assists with the work for specific projects to create and implement all aspects of a manufacturing processes to ensure safety requirements, manufacturing goals, business goals, and product specifications are met.
* Contributes by applying the knowledge or use of manufacturing principles and practices to improve manufacturing equipment and processes.
* Assists with the development of manufacturing standards and working methods by using continuous improvement tools.
* Works with internal and external resources on specific project assignments.
* Learns the knowledge of manufacturing principles and practices as they are applied to Cummins.
Skills- Qualifications- Experience
Experience
* A Manufacturing Engineer background with 2-4 years experience
* Existing ergonomics knowledge base is preferred, yet the knowledge and skills to identify ergonomic risks/problems can be obtained through training courses and experience.
* A bachelor’s degree is required, with a focus in Engineering preferred

Industrial Engineering Knowledge – Integrates the pillars of industrial engineering techniques by applying a comprehensive and quantitative analysis to available data to be used as decision factors for the development or improvement of manufacturing processes to contribute to the most efficient process.
Manufacturing Knowledge – Demonstrates the knowledge of manufacturing by correctly implementing changes in current processes, equipment, and applications to meet the function’s needs and contribute towards continuous improvement.
Optimizes work processes – Knowing the most effective and efficient processes to get things done, with a focus on continuous improvement.
Problem Solving – Solves problems using a systematic analysis process by leveraging industry standard methodologies to create problem traceability and protect the customer; determines the assignable cause; implements robust, data-based solutions; identifies the systemic root causes and recommended actions to prevent problem reoccurrence.
Health and Safety Fundamentals – Champions and models proactive health and safety behaviors by identifying, reporting and participating in actions to improve health and safety in order to build an interdependent culture and contribute to an injury-free workplace.
Education, Licenses, Certifications
College, university, or equivalent degree required; Engineering major preferred
Compensation and Benefits
Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
