Position Overview

The Systems Architect is responsible for the design and implementation of high-quality technology and software solutions, serving as a leader in all aspects of the process from definition and scoping of the business challenges, up to and including delivery to end users. The individual in this role will help coach and mentor other technical and non-technical team members, sharing knowledge to encourage everyone to think creatively and to set a positive example. This individual plays an integral role in the creation and modification of software applications or architecture, gathering of data, interpreting data to create a solution and plan for future growth. He/she provides leadership to the organization on technology best practices through the analysis of business processes to determine, recommend and implement technical solutions.

Primary Functions

· Guide the implementation and deployment of new technology and software systems including integration of commercial off the shelf (COTS) software products to deliver quality solutions to business challenges.

· Evaluate and research software systems and technologies via the development of prototypes and creating proposals / presentations for the solution.

· Translate business needs to various design documents such as data models, application/system integration matrices, and systems context diagrams.

· Design, document, and oversee implementation of in-house developed software solutions when no 3rd party offerings meet organizational needs.

· Exhibit strong technology and soft leadership skills to all team members, including mentoring and technical guidance.

Secondary Functions

· Partner with product management to define problems and identify iterative technical solutions for the organization.

· Develop and manage effective working relationships with other departments, groups, or personnel with whom work must be coordinated.

· Contribute to the development of a long-term architectural vision while balancing current business needs.

· Contribute to a culture of quality and shared responsibility for product success.

· Serve as a technical expert on our systems and acts in a leadership role for technical project decisions.

· Review business needs requiring technology and software solutions with various departments, ensuring scope, impact, and value are understood while translating those needs into technical design specifications.

· Design, develop, test, document, and implement high quality solutions on time and in accordance with specifications and supporting documents.

· Provide consultation for the evaluation of software and data systems for both IT and the business.

Technical Skills and Abilities

· Experience developing application prototypes to demonstrate the ability to create solutions for business needs.

· Experience integrating financial applications, ERP systems such as Epicor and SAP, and communications platforms.

· Experience with Business Process Management software, such as Decisions, Nintex, or K2.

· Experience in the decomposition of complex systems into constituent components while documenting and diagraming the responsibilities and boundaries of each component.

· Experience integrating multiple COTS products to deliver a cohesive solution delivering business value.

· Knowledge of API management platforms, such as Apigee, Mulesoft, or Azure API Management.

· Experience in discovery, development, and production deployment of enterprise wide technology solutions.

Minimum Qualifications

Demonstrated experience designing and developing large-scale, highly reliable and highly available Internet facing applications using enterprise technologies. 5+ years of experience with cloud technologies such as Microsoft Azure (preferred) or AWS. 8+ years of experience with client and server-based programming languages such as .NET technologies (VB.NET / C# / ASP.NET), JavaScript, .Net Core. 8+ years of experience with relational database management systems and database schema design. 2+ year of experience with non-relational databases and their application. Professional certification in software architecture, frameworks or languages preferred.
