This is an exciting opportunity in Dixon, California for a Technical Project Leader – Fuel Cell Powertrains.
This dual product/project focused, developing leadership position leads the overall technical coordination of complex product development activities and is accountable for the project management of technical risk and quality of the product up to and including early production. This position integrates the requirements of the many interdisciplinary and cross functional stakeholders of product development, often involving difficult decisions that impact cost and delivery without sacrifice to the quality expectations of the value package profile.
Your impact will happen in these and other ways:
* Leads the overall technical coordination of fuel cell powertrain product development activities focused on on-highway applications (MD truck, Transit Bus).
* Accountable for delivery of the fuel cell powertrain including analysis, design, prototyping and validation on field trial vehicle(s).
* Develops and manages overall plan for vehicle integration and demonstration including design, prototyping, manufacturing, commissioning, DVP&R, and delivery.
* Works with internal and external suppliers to ensure components are delivered on time and to desired performance/quality metrics
* Develops and manages requirements of the many interdisciplinary and cross functional stakeholders of product development (mechanical integration, electrical integration, controls, systems, thermal etc.) to ensure on time delivery.
* Identifies and manages complex NUD’s associated with the fuel cell program such as Hydrogen refueling infrastructure for the vehicle, vehicle level permits/certification for on-road testing, safety considerations for hydrogen powertrains etc.
* Conducts design reviews at appropriate milestones with the engineering and program leadership team.
* Communicates with fleet/OEM customers and other partners involved in the program as needed.
* Communicates with fuel cell and electrified power program leadership team frequently on status of project and key milestones.
* Works well in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
* Manages resource constraints by leveraging contractors or external consultants, as necessary.
* Coordinates and directs work of technical project teams, up to and including direct management of small to mid-sized teams.
* Operates as the recognized multi-competency specialist or expert in a discipline or product area across a site or global business unit with responsibility for developing local talent (direct or indirect).
* Coaches and mentors other engineers, project managers and cross-functional team members.
Skills
Project Management – Establishes and maintains the “Balanced Triangle” of Scope, Schedule and Resources for a temporary effort (a “project”).
Product Development Execution, Monitoring and Control – Plans, schedules, coordinates and executes the activities involved in developing a product to a respectively aligned hierarchy of requirements and technical profiles; monitors and communicates across functional boundaries to meet project resource and quality expectations; ensures product capability meets or exceeds expectations and takes mitigating actions when project risks are higher than expected; understands the full product life cycle process and stakeholders.
System Requirements Engineering – Uses appropriate methods and tools to translate stakeholder needs into verifiable requirements to which designs are developed; establishes acceptance criteria for the system of interest through analysis, allocation and negotiation; tracks the status of requirements throughout the system lifecycle; assesses the impact of changes to system requirements on project scope, schedule, and resources; creates and maintains information linkages to related artifacts.
Systems Thinking – Defines the system of interest by drawing the boundaries, identifying its context within its environment, its interfaces, and that it has a lifecycle to aid in planning the problem statement, scope and deliverables ; analyzes linkages and interactions between elements that comprise the system of interest by using appropriate methods, models and integration of outcomes to understand the system, predict its behavior and devise modifications to it in order to produce the desired effects.
Product Platform Development – Integrates all of the market and key customer needs of a given product platform into a comprehensive and holistic development plan; verifies platform capability for all planned and approved architectural variants within the boundaries of market use rather than the boundaries of any single customer within the target usage markets.

Experience
* Minimum five to eight years in a similar leadership role with minimum three years of experience specifically to Electric Vehicle Powertrain System Engineering.
* Experience in automotive manufacturing industry highly preferred, however other adjacent manufacturing industries will be considered.
* Hands-on experience working on electric vehicle architectures and systems: battery charging systems and battery management, energy recovery, battery thermal management, electric motors, and powertrain electronics.
* Solid technical knowledge and experience of Electric Vehicles systems and subsystems including designs, modelling and simulation, materials, chemistries, and electronics.
Required Education, Licenses or Certifications
Bachelor of Science in Engineering or other relevant technical disciplines is required.
Compensation and Benefits
Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
