Full-Time Head of Licensing and Partnerships

To support our mission, we are seeking a Head of Licensing and Partnerships to join our Innovation team in Reston, VA.  (Due to COVID-19 all employees are working remotely until we make return to work decisions).

As the most trusted wildlife conservation nonprofit, the National Wildlife Federation has been protecting America’s wildlife for more than eighty years.   Reporting to the Chief Innovation and Growth Officer, in this role you will leverage this brand equity and the wildlife conservation cause to create new revenue streams in the consumer marketplace.  You will lead business development to identify licensing partners and product categories, including researching, negotiating and executing contracts.  You will use these licensing and partnership opportunities to build brand franchises that generate significant revenue across multiple categories.

In this role you will:

  • Develop a licensing and partnership strategy reflecting the strategic goals of NWF
  • Identify new multi-faceted opportunities in collaboration with the Chief Innovation & Growth Officer as well as key senior managers across NWF
  • Grow promising existing relationships and minimize or terminate non-revenue producing relationships
  • Develop and execute licensing and partnership programs that maximize revenue across multiple categories and distribution channels
  • Secure cause marketing partnerships that create unrestricted revenue as well as support enterprise-wide brand initiatives
  • Develop and execute a brand and partnership management plan for products, services or offering
  • Set and manage budgets and maximize value for NWF and partners
  • Forge close relationships with strategic partners in appropriate product categories
  • Set product development plans, product positioning and key selling benefits in collaboration with licensees and partners
  • Monitor relevant marketplace dynamics and other key issues leading to recommendations for the licensing strategy

Required Experience:

  • 10+ years in Licensing & Partnerships with a minimum of 5 years in a Senior Director or above position
  • A demonstrable successful track record as a Licensing & Partnership executive with experience in initiating innovative and significant revenue producing deals
  • Demonstrated experience securing, negotiating and managing licensing deals across a wide variety of product categories
  • Established relationships and “street cred” across industries
  • An accomplished product strategy executive possessing strong understanding of brands, who balances creative marketing judgment/vision with analytical data as it relates to creating value-added merchandise against core market segments
  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • A leader who can work independently as well as collaboratively with senior management, including the CEO
  • Business gravitas, outweighing functional focus
  • Strong management, able to bring out the best in staff to perform at high level
  • Proven outstanding verbal presentation acuity and written acumen
  • Board level presentation experience
  • Enthusiasm for conservation issues

The salary range for this position is $150,000.
