Full-Time Facilities Maintenance Engineer
Job Description
Under the direction of the Building Operations Manager, the Facilities Maintenance Engineer will provide repairs and maintenance using all trades (HVAC, electrical & plumbing) on a wide variety of building equipment and systems according to established organizational standards, while at the same time providing the customer with a high quality experience.

Reports to: Building Operations Manager
Essential Functions
- Patch drywall holes;
- Assist in maintenance of the appearance of facility;
- Conduct ongoing painting of facility – general upkeep; patch any holes, caulk and paint as needed;
- Inspect fire extinguishers monthly and sign off on tags;
- Conduct monthly building inspections using checklist;
- Check all first aid kits monthly to ensure proper supplies on hand;
- Utilize ticket system for all maintenance activities;
- Perform routine plumbing – light repairs (e.g. replace leaking faucets, unplug blockages);
- Perform light construction (e.g. shelves, door repair, replacing ceiling tiles) as needed;
- Perform light routine electrical (e.g. replace light bulbs, replace light fixtures, switches, troubleshooting/repairing fuse outages) as needed;
- Assist in the relocation of offices and equipment as needed;
- Assist in set up and break down of all meeting rooms as required;
- Paint curbs etc. as needed to keep looking presentable;
- Keep all building maintenance supplies in one area and orderly;
- Keep Boardroom and Executive galley kitchen stocked with water;
- Pressure wash the exterior of the building when instructed to do so;
- Clean spills, Biohazard and Chemical in non-medical areas of the building, only up to the level the staff member has been trained to handle;
- Must be available to work evenings and some weekends;
- Engage and participate in continuing education classes offered (Relias);
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
- Graduate from a high school, or possession of a certificate of proficiency issued by the California State Board of Education, or possession of a G.E.D. certificate;
- Two (2) years’ experience working in a combination of construction and facility maintenance;
- Ability to read and write English language;
- Ability to follow verbal or written instructions.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Experience working with HIV affected population;
- Knowledge of MSDS;
- Knowledge of proper use of power, hand, and specialty tools and equipment;
- Some computer knowledge;
- Bilingual in Spanish/ bi-cultural.
License(s) and Certification(s)
- Valid CA Driver’s License with a clean driving record and, access to a reliable vehicle and up-to-date auto insurance.
Working Environment and Physical Demands
This job operates in internal and external parts of the buildings and requires constant times of standing, walking and some repetitive motion. Ability to lift 50 pounds or more. Potential exposure to hazardous materials. Potential exposure to allergen/irritants, and extreme temperatures. No direct patient contact under normal circumstances is required. No exposure involvement to blood, body fluids, non-intact skin or tissue specimens required and no access to patient protected health information.
