Salary Range: $22.26 – $23.84

Essential Functions and Objectives:

The Millwright installs, repairs and maintains District machinery and equipment using skilled millwright trade related practices. Fabrication, repair and installation of all types of equipment including, but not limited to: personnel safety (i.e., catwalks, work platforms, ladders, hand rails, etc.), conveyor and lift systems, bleacher systems, pool diving boards and starting blocks, stage rigging, overhead doors and gates, loading dock plates and lifts, school seating systems, metal doors and windows, as well as outdoor flagpoles. Works under the direction of Level 3 technicians.

– Reviews work orders, prioritizes, and determines supplies for repair; purchases supplies using District purchase order system.

– Communicates and coordinates with staff at work site and with other shop staff.

– Reviews for orders and designs projects, considering work related codes (e.g., building codes, ADA) and District guidelines.

– Prepares and cleans up job site (e.g., erecting scaffolding), taking into consideration safety concerns of self and others (e.g., students, employees), disposes.

– Performs repair and manufacturing welding (e.g., weld, cut, grind).

– Mounts and installs mechanical motors and equipment (e.g., overhead doors, gates, sports equipment).

– Fabricates, repairs and installs District equipment (e.g., catwalks, handrails, ladders, stage riggings).

– Fabricates parts for District equipment (e.g., bleacher systems, lunch room tables, seats).

– Conducts preventive safety inspections, and performs repairs based on inspection results (gym safety inspections, pool diving boards).

– Fabricates parts for, and repairs overhead door and gate systems.

– Replaces parts for, and repairs gates, windows and flagpoles.

– Mounts, fastens, and attaches equipment to building structures, operating metal lathe and milling machine to grind, file, and turn machine parts to dimensional specifications.

– Performs work and cross trains in at least one other trade as an apprentice.

– Assists with snow removal efforts on a 24 hour on-call basis.

– Responds to emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

– Bids on work requested by schools, and prepares cost estimates.

Knowledge, Experience, & Other Qualifications:

– Four to ten year’s journeyman experience and/or training equivalent combination of education and experience.

– Knowledge of basic building structural systems.

– Ability to coordinate with other shop staff to complete projects.

– Ability to work effectively with staff at all levels, in all departments.

– Ability to complete work according to specifications, with attention to detail.

– Ability to plan and organize work, at times with interruptions.

– Ability to problem solve and repair/construct items according to specifications.

– Ability to work independently, make decisions and complete assignments.

– Ability to work overtime hours as necessary and in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.

– Ability to design and modify existing District systems.

– Ability to interpret and read blueprints and drawings.

– Ability to communicate in English, orally and in writing.

– Will be required to work off of Arial Platforms (i.e., single man, scissor, & telescoping boom lifts).

– Must have and maintain a valid Colorado Driver’s License and meet district insurability standards.

Education Requirements:

– High School diploma or equivalent.

– Graduate of a 4-year apprenticeship school preferred.
