PRIMARY FUNCTION: The GSRP Advanced Early Learning Professional provides childcare and implements the educational curriculum and assessment tool within the Great Start Readiness Program classrooms.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required. CDA certification or two years of post-secondary coursework or an Associate’s Degree in early childhood education.
- Significant and relevant post-high school education or training in early childhood education or child/family-related field.
- At least two years of experience working with young children and families in a licensed childcare setting.
- Ability to comprehend and implement Creative Curriculum, Teaching Strategies GOLD
- Ability to comprehend and utilize The Ages and Stages Questionnaire (developmental screener)
- Has and maintains active CDA certification.
- Ability to comprehend and implement childcare licensing and regulatory affairs requirements
- Ability to meet requirements of the Bureau of Child and Adult Licensing.
- Satisfactory response to criminal and child abuse and neglect history checks.
- Demonstrated ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
GSRP Responsibilities
- Writes one anecdotal note per child, per day and enter the documentation into Teaching Strategies weekly on Mondays.
- Prepares for and supports lead teacher with two conferences (outside of work hours) per program year.
- Prepares for and supports two home visits per program year, one in the fall and one in the spring.
- Is present during in-classroom coaching with GSRP mentor. Attends debrief sessions with GSRP mentor and implements strategies to maintain a high-quality learning environment
- Attends at least one professional development training facilitated by GSRP or KCReady per program year
- Becomes Interrator Reliable on Teaching Strategies, each program year by October 31
- Supports finalization of checkpoints on Teaching strategies three times per program year and participates in three data meetings per program year
- Supports implementation of behavior plans and supports referral process to Preprimary Evaluation Team
Advanced ELP Responsibilities
- Implements age-appropriate lesson plans using Teaching strategies
- Participates in weekly lesson planning, and gathering of materials in preparation for lessons
- Observes and assesses utilizing Teaching Strategies GOLD and ASQ-3
- Actively supervises children, and follows zoning plan
- Assists and documents daily activities utilizing Tadpoles
- Works cooperatively with Site Director and coaches, to resolve any programmatic or family concerns including but not limited to communication, service delivery, quality, curriculum, personnel, and assessment.
- Follow daily cleaning procedures as outlined in the employee handbook
- Participates in family meal style and documents meals on Kidcare & Tadpoles
- Accompanies and actively supervise children on field trips.
- Commits to self-education on anti-bias education, racial justice, and gender equity issues.
- Monitors the health status of children for illness or areas of concern.
- Provides written and/or verbal communication to parents regarding the child’s daily activities, progress, and behavior.
- Follows all Dreamery and YWCA policies and procedures.
- Participate in 3 hours of in-classroom coaching weekly
- Leads classroom when lead teacher is on leave, in trainings or offsite
- Complies with applicable local, state, and federal licensing requirements/certification and/or regulations.
- Complies with association policy regarding required reporting of child abuse.
- Safeguards confidential information gained as a result of the position.
- Works cooperatively with program participants, YWCA staff, and volunteers.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
