We are looking for an Installation Environmental Technician to support the Installation Environmental Program Director (IEPD) at NSF, Redzikowo, Poland. This role ensures compliance with US Department of Defense (DoD) and Polish environmental regulations, overseeing environmental engineering programs, and conducting inspections and audits. The technician will provide technical evaluations, recommend improvements, and maintain compliance documentation. The position also involves liaising with contractors and military personnel to facilitate environmental compliance and supporting emergency response efforts when needed. The role is based on an initial one-year contract with four additional one-year options, and candidates must be ready to start within 30 days of contract award. Proof of Defense Base Act (DBA) Insurance is required.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure environmental compliance with the Environmental Final Governing Standards for Poland (FGS-PL) and DoD Overseas Environmental Baseline Guidance (OEBGD).
- Monitor and update environmental management programs, reviewing installation compliance plans and environmental standards.
- Conduct regular environmental inspections and audits, including areas like drinking water, wastewater, and air emissions, providing recommendations based on findings.
- Maintain accurate records and submit timely reports, documenting findings and corrective actions via EMSWeb and G2 platforms.
- Provide technical evaluations and recommendations for improving environmental engineering processes to align with standards and regulations.
- Serve as a liaison between contractors, military personnel, and the IEPD to ensure environmental compliance.
- Offer specialized compliance support and recommendations in areas such as air emissions, hazardous material and waste management, and endangered species protection.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations concerning asbestos, lead-based paint, spill prevention, and other specialized categories.
- Assist with or conduct training sessions and briefings, preparing documentation for environmental compliance activities.
- Respond to emergency environmental issues as required, adjusting work hours for off-hours response as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, or a related field (or 3 years of relevant experience if the degree is in another field).
- In-depth knowledge of environmental laws and regulations, including Polish standards.
- Experience with environmental management systems, compliance audits, and engineering principles.
- Strong communication skills in both Polish and English for reporting, training, and coordination.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
- Ability to pass a security background check.
