The Business Navigator is part of WorkSource of the Columbia Basin serving business throughout the Benton and Franklin County area.  As a consultant to businesses, every day is a chance to serve as a connection point to a system that is often challenging to navigate. The Business Navigator provides a comprehensive commitment of service to employers and partner services as a member of Career Path Services and the greater WorkSource team. This position is charged with developing and implementing innovative, solution-based strategies for performing the duties associated with supporting the community’s shared economic and workforce development goals. The Business Navigator works on a team that provides a variety of services with the purpose of connecting area businesses to job seekers. A successful Business Navigator will be performance driven, entrepreneurial, experienced working with BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) populations. This role requires someone who knows how to take the broad elements of a program model and customize it to the needs of the program participant to meet the goals of the program and fund source. In this role you will need an eye for detail, flexibility and the ability to work at the pace of business.

This position is full time and will be onsite working in the WorkSource Columbia Basin in Kennewick, WA. This position is project-based (temporary) and is anticipated to end on 6/30/2025.

ABOUT THE JOB

The major responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Client Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with BIPOC owned and represented businesses, serving as a key point of contact for their needs, concerns, and aspirations.
  • Needs Assessment: Conduct comprehensive needs assessments to understand the unique challenges and opportunities faced by BIPOC-owned businesses, ensuring a tailored approach to support. Lead landscape analyzing qualifying workforce gaps and equity barriers facing local BIPOC business communities through data synthesis and focus group meetings.
  • Advocacy: Act as an advocate for BIPOC-owned businesses within the organization, promoting their interests, and contributing to the development of programs and initiatives that foster their success. Support recruitment, placement, and retention of employees at Community Reinvestment EcSA Businesses. Curate culturally attuned training, up-skilling and placement supports that address key challenges named by minority-owned employers.
  • Resource Connection: Facilitate connections between BIPOC-owned businesses and relevant resources, including mentorship programs, funding opportunities, and educational resources.
  • Capacity Building: Provide guidance and support to enhance the capacity and capabilities of BIPOC-owned businesses, helping them navigate challenges and capitalize on growth opportunities.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to develop and implement strategies that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the business community. Conduct qualitative interviews and listening sessions with diverse minority business leaders to surface priority workforce needs impacting growth.
  • Education and Outreach: Develop and deliver educational workshops, training sessions, and outreach programs to raise awareness about the needs and contributions of BIPOC-owned businesses.

EXPERIENCE/POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in Business Administration, Human Resources, Sales and Marketing, or a related field.
  • Requires use of: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, LinkedIn, and other business-related networking applications, as appropriate.
  • Must be able to work in a culturally diverse and fast-paced environment and demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and cultural competency.
  • Expertise in using Social Media tools for recruiting and communicating.
  • Bilingual (Russian/Ukrainian, Marshallese, Spanish, Arabic/Farsi).

Preferred

  • A degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Sales and Marketing, or a related field.
  • Experience serving, working and partnering with BIPOC owned and represented businesses.
  • Job development experience with public or private employers a plus.
  • Use of CRM software or territory management program.

Job: Business Navigator
Primary Location: Kennewick, WA
Salary: Salary Range for hiring offers: $53,000-59,000 annually, DOE. Full salary range for the lifetime of the role is $53,000-78,000 annually.
