Full-Time Electrical Traffic Manager
Job Description
Join the City of Oshkosh as the leader of our Electric Division. The Electrical Traffic Manager is a pivotal role, overseeing a skilled team responsible for maintaining the city’s traffic signals, managing the fiber and telecommunications networks, and delivering cost-effective electrical services across all city facilities. As the designated Master Electrician, you will be integral to the installation, maintenance, and repair of all city-owned electrical and traffic systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Electric Division Management Lead and inspire your team in managing city-wide electrical systems. Conduct training to keep the crew sharp and current with industry standards and safety codes. Lead emergency response initiatives and actively participate in various strategic committees. Champion new initiatives in electrical and traffic tech.
- Management of Electrical and Fiberoptic Systems: Take charge of underground repairs and outages. Handle necessary permits and quality checks. Coordinate interdepartmental equipment and service usage, maintaining alignment with external utility companies and contractors.
- Traffic Systems Management: Plan and execute electrical installations for new and existing traffic infrastructure. Supervise data collection for traffic and electrical circuit assessments. Ensure the seamless operation and timely programming of traffic signal systems.
- Planning and Procurement Oversight: Manage budgetary protocols across departments. Source and secure competitive bids for projects and materials. Work with local utilities for street lighting projects.
Qualified Candidates Will Have:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least five years of progressively responsible experience as a Licensed Journeyman Electrician, ideally with two years in a supervisory role.
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License without air brake restrictions.
- State of Wisconsin Master Electrician and Electrical Contractor Licenses.
- Stellar leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated expertise in training, motivating, and evaluating staff.
- Comprehensive knowledge of electrical systems, protocols, and regulations.
- Solid experience with traffic signal controllers and related systems.
- Tech-savvy with Microsoft Office and ArcGIS and possess a strong understanding of lighting design principles.
