Under the leadership of the Docket Supervisor, this position will be responsible for the timely and daily calendaring of case activity into the firm’s centralized docket system, with exposure to attorneys, paralegals, and legal administrative assistants in all practice groups. Additional responsibilities will include entering deadlines and applying rules-based knowledge with the docket software (CompuLaw). The Docket Specialist will work in a team environment and provide cross-office support. This position is eligible for a flexible hybrid-remote work schedule after an initial period of training.
Key Responsibilities
- Performs research as to applicable court rules, status of the matter, etc., and responds to procedural questions presented by attorneys, paralegals, and other legal administrative support.
- Performs data entry into a centralized docketing system to generate due dates and reminders. Enters court/due dates and reviews docketing records to ensure accuracy of deadlines.
- Analyzes incoming correspondence and notices related to open cases and takes appropriate action.
- Prepares timely customized reports and resolves inaccuracies and problems with docket entries.
- Quality controls docket entries for accuracy prior to release.
- Completes special projects assigned by the Docket Supervisor.
Experience and Education Qualifications
- Associate Degree and/or Paralegal Certification preferred.
- Experience with CompuLaw or other rules-based calendaring software required.
- Minimum three (3) years administrative, docketing or paralegal experience in a law firm environment required.
