HCAI’s mission is to expand equitable access to quality, affordable health care for all Californians through resilient facilities, actionable information, and the health workforce each community needs.

The Chief Equity Officer will provide strategic leadership, education, and support advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in HCAI as a workplace and advancing health equity across HCAI’s programs. The role is essential for designing and implementing solutions that promote sustainable behavioral shifts among staff, ensuring that equity principles are fully integrated into our programs, operations and organizational culture. The incumbent will collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance accessibility within complex systems, oversee the development of key policies such as the Language Access Framework and Community Engagement Practices, and foster a dynamic organizational culture that embraces diversity. Through data-driven assessments, the incumbent will monitor and inform the impact of equity initiatives, refine practices, and engage with diverse stakeholders to ensure that our commitment to equity and accessibility is reflected in all aspects of HCAI’s work.

  • SOQ must be typed and limited to three pages, in font not smaller than size 12.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Describe your executive level experience designing policies and programs that advance equity, inclusion and belonging within the workplace. Provide examples of your experience in leadership, administration, oversight, accountability, and delivery of services relevant to advancing the goals of the organization.
  2. Describe your executive level experience designing policies and programs that promote health equity for marginalized populations. Provide examples.
  3. Describe your executive level experience with authentic stakeholder engagement with diverse communities. Provide examples of your experience, role of engagement and outcome.
  4. Describe your executive level experience utilizing a data-driven approach to inform decision-making to advance equity outcomes within an organization. Provide examples which demonstrate your experience training and educating individuals within an organization.
  5. Describe your executive level experience advising executive leadership on diversity, equity, and inclusion approaches include examples of how you gained the confidence and support of these stakeholders to carry out new strategies within an organization.
  6. Describe your executive level experience navigating politically sensitive issues with various levels of government or the public. Provide examples which include your role and desired outcomes.
If you meet the requirements stated in this announcement, you may take this competitive examination. Possession of the Examination Qualifications requirements does not assure a place on the eligible list. Your performance in the examination will be compared with the performance of others who take this examination, and all successful candidates will be ranked according to their scores. A minimum rating of 70% must be attained in the Examination to obtain list eligibility for this position. All candidates will receive written notification of their examination results. The results of this examination will only be used to fill this position. Applications will be retained for twelve months. Hiring interviews for the Job may be conducted with the most qualified candidates. The examining Department reserves the right to revise the examination plan to better meet the needs of the service, if the circumstances under which this examination was planned change.
