Full-Time Engineering Technician
Job Description
We are looking for an Engineering Technician to join our team in Keflavik, Iceland. As an Engineering Technician, you will play a key role in ensuring compliance with government contracts and safety requirements, providing technical assistance, and maintaining high-quality standards throughout the construction process.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular visits to project sites to verify compliance with construction contracts, designs, safety protocols, and UFC requirements, and prepare Quality Assurance Reports (QARs) for each visit.
- Attend key project meetings, including post-award, weekly QC/Owners Meetings, and construction conferences, ensuring government representation when required.
- Review and provide feedback on technical and administrative submittals, including Quality Control Plans, safety plans, schedules, and test reports.
- Monitor contractor compliance with quality and safety requirements, documenting any corrective actions needed.
- Analyze construction contractor daily reports and project schedules to ensure adherence to contract milestones.
- Provide technical assistance in resolving Requests for Information (RFIs) and monitor material testing for contract compliance.
- Assist in scheduling outages to prevent work stoppages and ensure efficient coordination between contractor, client, and tenant operations.
- Oversee the closeout process, including punch list completion, testing of major systems, and final acceptance.
- Ensure as-built drawings and OMSI manuals are updated and completed on time.
- Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience as an Engineering Technician, superintendent, or quality control/assurance manager on Department of Navy or Department of Defense construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of civil, mechanical, electrical, and/or environmental construction practices.
- Ability to review and understand complex engineering specifications and contracts.
- Experience monitoring construction schedules, milestones, and contractor compliance.
- Fluency in English (CEFR level C1 preferred, B2 minimum); knowledge of Icelandic is preferred but not required.
- Physical ability to perform tasks in extreme environments, including confined spaces and using fall protection equipment.
- Completion of the 40-hour EM 385-1-1 Construction Safety Course (or within 90 days of starting) and Construction Quality Management for Contractors course.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
