Full-Time Advancement Associate
Job Description
Elmira College is a private liberal arts College located in the Finger Lakes region of New York. Seeking innovative professionals from diverse backgrounds to fill the position of Advancement Associate to join the Institutional Advancement and Alumni Engagement team.
Reporting to the Director of Advancement Services, the Advancement Associate is a skilled communicator and project manager with a passion for fundraising with the ability to identify and implement relevant fundraising trends. The position requires excellent communication and writing skills, sharp attention to detail, and ability to prioritize an array of projects.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for gift entry and posting, acknowledgements, pledge reminders, donor research, and database maintenance;
- Provide support in the distribution of direct mail appeals;
- Assist with donor relations and stewardship efforts;
- Provide clerical support including reception, department mail, ordering of supplies, drafting or proofreading correspondence;
- Provide support with Advancement and Alumni Engagement events;
- Assist with research of fundraising best practices and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor degree, Associate’s degree with 2 years of experience, or 4 years of experience, in a professional office setting;
- Valid driver’s license;
- Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge experience preferred;
- Strong writing and editing skills;
- Manage multiple and complex projects independently and with a high degree of accuracy and clarity;
- Working knowledge of fundraising databases, common social media platforms, and website content management systems a plus i.e., Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge/NXT;
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (specifically Excel and Word mail merge), Google Suite, and various online research tools.

BASIS OF PAY: Hourly, Non-Exempt

WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment and in other locations where events are held. Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard.
