Full-Time Industry Communications Officer

Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join a national not-for-profit specialising in resolving disputes between consumers and property professionals.= 

To assist the Communications Manager to ensure effective communication with members within residential sales and lettings.

Position:            Industry Communications Officer

Salary:                £30,000

Hours:                Full-time (35 hours per week)

Location:           Remote with occasional travel within the UK

About us

The Property Ombudsman provides an impartial and independent Ombudsman service, helping to resolve disputes between consumers and property professionals. We are the only Ombudsman scheme in the property professional sector and, as a not-for-profit organisation, we have been providing our service since 1990.

Purpose of the role

Deliver content for member businesses that enables them to maximise value from their membership. Content should demonstrate the positive impact of the service to prospective and current member businesses and wider stakeholders, setting the organisation apart from competitors and other relevant alternative resolution solutions.

Main responsibilities of the role:

  • Produce high-quality content for member businesses and stakeholders, working closely with the Communications Manager, Consumer Communications Officer and membership team
  • Ensure all materials contain consistent messaging, forwarding the business aims of the organisation
  • Help monitor and anticipate trends in media and social media coverage, reputational risks and opportunities to enhance the profile of TPO
  • Lead online engagement through our growing social media presence and respond to online reviews
  • Support colleagues with timely, accurate and helpful content in a co-ordinated, targeted manner

We are looking for someone to:

  • Write clear, accessible messages with the audience and their needs in mind
  • Engage with stakeholders on social media channels and in-person events.
  • Have excellent attention-to-detail in maintaining accuracy and consistency in our output
  • Be aware of the media landscape and context for our communications

Desirable experience

  • Experience in communicating with a range of audiences on a number of platforms
  • Confident using digital platforms, particularly social media
  • Web editing using web design software and/or using content management systems
  • Translation of complex and sensitive information and communicate it effectively and appropriately to a range of audiences.
