POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Manager, Marketing, the Graphic & Web Design Specialist will be the driving force behind Vector’s visual identity, brand consistency, and creative output. The ideal candidate will possess skills to translate the Vector Institute’s cutting-edge work into visually compelling and accessible content for diverse audiences.

This position involves routine collaboration with the Manager, Marketing, internal teams, and occasionally stakeholders to conceptualize, create, and deliver compelling visual content that communicates Vector’s mission and values effectively.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Creative Direction

    • Collaborate with the Director, Marketing & Brand to advance and implement the creative vision for Vector Institute’s brand across all platforms

    • Provide expert guidance on visual aesthetics for campaigns, projects, and promotional materials for in-person and virtual events

    • Ensure consistency and alignment of all visual content with Vector’s brand standards

  • Graphic design and asset creation

    • Design high-quality graphic design materials for PowerPoint presentations, infographics, brochures, and other marketing collateral

    • Create detailed storyboards and visual designs based on creative briefs, ensuring all design elements align with brand standards

  • Video and web

    • Develop and edit branded elements for Vector’s video content, including titles and graphics

    • Perform basic video editing tasks such as cutting, splicing, and incorporating branded content

    • Source and integrate third-party content, including b-roll, stock footage, and photography, as needed

    • Design and maintain visually appealing website assets, landing pages, and other digital marketing resources

    • Create digital marketing assets including banner ads, email blasts, and social media graphics

  • Brand management and consistency

    • Maintain and regularly update the company’s brand guide and asset library to ensure consistency across all channels, including Google Slides, letterhead, PowerPoint, website, etc.

    • Ensure all designs meet brand, accessibility (AODA), and website standards

    • Oversee management of the Vector’s partners’ logos, brand marks, and creative assets, ensuring accurate usage across all Vector materials

    • Support and create assets for co-branding initiatives, maintaining logs and regularly auditing for accuracy across Vector’s ecosystem

  • Collaboration and innovation

    • Collaborate closely with the Vector Institute Marketing and Communications team to identify design and branding needs for various projects and initiatives

    • Recommend AI-enabled approaches or tools to leverage in design, video, and web development projects

    • Regularly engage with senior leadership on quick turnaround, high-priority presentations, asset creation or branded collateral under the leadership of the Director, Marketing & Brand

    • Stay informed on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies (e.g., AI-enabled design tools) related to web and graphic design, serving as the subject matter expert on the Marketing and Communications team

    • Collaborate effectively with the Marketing team to ensure that all designs align with strategic objectives and effectively engage target audiences

  • Deliver impactful designs that stand out to make a brilliant first impression, enhancing the visibility and reputation of Vector’s brand

  • Successful collaboration with colleagues to bring complex content to life in creative and compelling ways, ensuring a simplified message for the end-audience

  • Projects are managed with full ownership, meeting critical deadlines and maintaining communication with stakeholders

  • Actively contributes to marketing campaign concepts, brand discussions, and brainstorm sessions, bringing a passion for design and a keen eye for industry trends

  • Continuously seeks opportunities to elevate design standards and support the evolution of the brand

PROFILE OF THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in graphic design or a related field

  • 5-7 years minimum of experience working as a graphic designer, and a minimum of 2 years in web design

  • Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.), designing templates for WordPress, social media creative tools (e.g., Canva) and video editing tools

  • Strong skill set in Microsoft PowerPoint and design in PowerPoint using traditional animation

  • Strong background in light video editing/cutting/branding using iMovie, CapCut and/or FinalCut

  • Experience in AI-enabled design and video tools for project execution

  • Strong communication, organizational, and project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines

  • Knowledge of user experience (UX) design principles, web development technologies and frameworks – such as working with HTML, CSS and JavaScript

  • Excellent collaboration skills, with experience working with cross-functional teams or for clients in an agency setting

  • Experience working with a style guide and brand – advancing the brand where possible

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work well under tight deadlines

  • French language proficiency is an asset, but not required
