Business Analyst

Salary: £45,000 to £50,000

Full time: 35 hours per week

Location: Remote with occasional travel

 

About us

The Property Ombudsman provides an impartial and independent service, free to consumers, helping to resolve disputes between consumers and Property Agents. We are the largest Ombudsman scheme in the sector and the only one to operate Codes of Practice to raise standards and share best practice in the industry.  As a not-for-profit organisation, we have been providing an impartial dispute resolution service since 1990.

 

Job Summary

 

You will be responsible for providing the business analyst function across the whole organisation, delivering recommendations and options for changes that will have a measurable impact of the effectiveness of our service.

 

Day to day you will define strategies for business improvements, constructively challenging the status quo to design and deliver forward thinking solutions.  You will be required to gather detailed business and technical requirements, validate and justify business needs, produce high-level and detailed business models, prepare business cases including business impacts, support the development and implementation of solutions, whilst continually considering the implications of change on the organisation and all stakeholders.

 

We are looking for a strong communicator, with well-developed interpersonal skills, who can interact confidently and engagingly with senior management and staff, and is comfortable presenting complex subjects in an accessible way. You will enjoy variety and getting into the detail, but also have the flexibility in your approach to look wider and communicate the bigger picture trends. You will be used to establishing steering groups, with both relevant subject matter experts and stakeholders, and driving good governance.

 

A proactive self-starter with the ability to work using your own initiative. You will possess good time management and prioritisation skills to enable achievement of critical deadlines. Attention to detail and high-quality standards relating to documentation, good governance and processes and an excellent understanding of risk management are crucial.

 

What we are looking for

  • Previous relevant work experience and a degree/professional qualification or substantial experience in a similar role.
  • Effective business analysis activity across the organisation where advice given, and decisions made will have a measurable impact on the effectiveness of the organisation.
  • Evaluation of business processes, anticipating requirements, and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Supporting the delivery of change across the organisation through a range of projects which deliver strategic and incremental change.
  • Developing and defining strategies for business improvements, constructively challenging the status quo to design and deliver forward thinking solutions.
  • Ensuring recommendations and outcomes are aligned with organisational vision and strategy by contributing to the link between current and future business models.
  • Evaluating and reporting on the impact of changes.
  • Documenting workflows of all business requirements and processes.
  • Leading on the continuous review and evaluation of business processes to improve organisational processes to deliver organisational effectiveness.
  • Experience in establishing steering groups, with appropriate membership, including SMEs and stakeholders.
  • The ability to present findings in an engaging and compelling way that enables robust decision making.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office and relevant technological applications, including visio, lucid chart or similar.
  • To be positive, flexible, and resilient to achieve success in challenging situations.
  • Excellent planning and organising skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet targets.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • A proven ability to work collaboratively and achieve results whilst working remotely.
