Job Description
- Perform office assistant tasks supporting our administrative, program, and technical operations.
- Assist with record keeping, reporting, and filing activities.
- Engage with the public by answering the phone, directing calls to staff, and taking messages.
- Process payroll, inventory, purchase orders, and accounts payable using our SAP system.
- Perform personnel and other office duties, such as typing correspondence, and handling incoming/outgoing mail.
- Good verbal and written communication skills to communicate and respond to all inquiries and instructions with tact and in an courteous manner to ensure positive public and employee relations.
- Knowledge and use of office equipment.
- Computer skills in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), and online databases, such as SAP.
- Ability to work independently, be resourceful, and can simultaneously schedule/coordinate multiple work tasks.
- Ability to learn and independently apply laws, NCDOT rules, and regulations in your work in accordance with NCDOT workplace and safety policies.
- Customer service experience, including resolving customer issues.
- Experience completing/maintaining records and reports.
- Experience interpreting/explaining policies, procedures, and laws.
- Ability to accurately use computer, calculator, copier, fax machine.
- Ability to maintain and organize records.
- High school/GED diploma, and
- 2+ years of related administrative experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
