Job Description:
Educational Support Specialist (CDEC), Early Childhood position is directly accountable to the Director, Child Development Center for the following duties and responsibilities:
The individual filling this position is expected to play a positive role in helping the College change as necessary to effectively carryout its mission.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities for children.
- Perform all teaching duties for children.
- Establish and maintain a positive physical learning environment.
- Complete developmental assessments of children.
- Assist with meeting required licensing health and safety standards for the CDEC, including identification of childhood illnesses and handling emergencies appropriately.
- Meet the NAEYC accreditation standards for the CDEC.
- Assist the director with planning and conducting staff meetings.
- Assist with planning and implementation of parent education activities.
- Supervise and mentor college students in the daily operation of the center.
- Model appropriate adult-child interaction skills for college students in training and serve as a liaison between the instructor and the students.
- Assist with maintenance of the physical environment of the classrooms and teacher work areas.
- Assist with maintenance and update of inventory of CDEC equipment and supplies.
- Demonstrate positive relationships with director, children, families, staff, college students, and members of the community.
- Work flexible hours to meet the unique requirements of the CDEC.
- Perform clerical duties assigned.
- Engage in institutional service, professional development, and other duties as assigned by the Director of the CDEC, Director of Teacher Education, the Dean of Health Sciences, Public Safety, & Education, and/or the Vice President of Academic Affairs.
- Complete annual mandatory compliance training.

Requirements:
- Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development, or A.A. degree and Florida Staff Credential or ability to complete credentials.
- Minimum of two (2) years proven experience in a group childcare setting.
- Willingness to work cooperatively and effectively with other staff members and parents to meet the goals and objectives of
- the CDEC.
- One year’s experience in business or in an educational environment.
- Ability to deal effectively with students and the public.
- Must be able to work as a team member and show a capacity for professional growth and development.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in early childhood education, child development, or related field.
- One year experience working in a campus childcare center.
