Minimum Qualifications of Education and Experience

Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in business, administrative assistant, or related field.

OR

Combination of education and experience equivalent to two (2) year of experience in a customer-focused position.

Regular and reliable attendance is a necessary component of job/position. Individuals required to use County vehicles and equipment must have a valid driver’s license and be free of any major traffic violations for the last three (3) years.

Nature of Work

Under supervision, performs a variety of complex tasks requiring specialized knowledge of policies, procedures, and laws applicable to the Environmental Health and Environmental Lab units. Generates billing, codes, posts, and reconciles Environmental Health and Environmental Lab records. Enters and maintains organizational data and runs reports. Provides customer service to internal and external customers, interprets and explains policies and procedures, compiles data and reports, and prepares correspondence. Contributes to and may take a lead role in a variety of projects. Work is performed independently with great attention to detail, and may train others.

Examples of Work

  • Generates billing, codes, posts, and reconciles accounts for the Environmental Health and Environmental Lab units.
  • Enters data and maintains organizational records.
  • Assists and consults with customers on licensing, answers questions, and escalates to the appropriate staff members as needed.
  • Audits Environmental Health and Environmental Lab billing records and procedures on a regular basis and suggests improvements.
  • Performs collections on Environmental Health license fees and Environmental Lab invoices.
  • Performs credit card transactions, posts and reconciles credit card batches related to the area of assignment.
  • Serves as a lead special event organizer. Monitors events, enters event data, tracks licensure, and maintains accurate records on an ongoing basis.
  • Processes refunds and obtains documentation according to finance policy for the Environmental Health and Environmental Lab units.
  • Responsible for a purchasing credit card and knowledge of all associated responsibilities, policies, and procedure related to purchasing. Orders supplies and tracks inventory for multiple public health units.
  • Compiles data and prepares reports according to State requirements.
  • Serves as a 508-compliance liaison for the Environmental Health unit.
  • Maintains billing system to accurate reflect rates and fees.
  • Processes mileage reimbursement for Environmental Health and Environmental Lab.
  • Prepares correspondence and print materials including mass emails, informative mailings and inserts, posters, and flyers.
  • Performs related work as required.

  • Knowledge of policies, regulations, statutes, procedures, and practices pertaining to the area of specialization.
