Job Description
The West Suburban YMCA is looking to immediately hire individuals for our Out-of-School Program as Group Leaders.
M-F 2:00 pm- 6:00 pm

POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides direct supervision of a group of children in a state licensed after school program. Provides a quality experience to children and parents focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Supervises a group of children.
2. Plans and implements program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values.
3. Adheres to YMCA and state (Early Education & Care, EEC) standards including safety and cleanliness.
4. Attends staff meetings and training.
5. Follows YMCA and EEC policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and
emergencies.
6. Maintains positive relations with parents and other staff. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
7. Works at special events (i.e. Snow Day Program, Holiday Programs) and vacation week programs, if needed.
8. Respond appropriately to emergencies and situations requiring first aid and/or CPR.
9. All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Previous experience working with children.
2. Child CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and training within 30 days of hire date.
3. EEC trainings/registration prior to hire date.
4. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
5. Passion and enthusiasm for creating a safe space for youth in the program.
