WCPL is seeking a strong leader with a vision for developing library facilities for a senior level position, Senior Library Manager: Library Facilities and Operations
Are you an experienced library professional seeking a new challenge? WCPL is searching for a new Senior Library Manager for Facilities and Operations (posted as Library Division Manager). The Senior Manager for Library Facilities and Operations provides vision for the Library as “place”, which includes determining future and evolving library facility needs of both customers and staff. This senior manager oversees the Library Facilities Resource including CIP Projects, renovations, general and emergency maintenance and security. Additionally, this manager serves as the library point of contact for other Wake County departments including General Services’ Physical Plant, Facility and Field Services, and Safety and Security divisions and Facilities Design & Construction, as well as library vendors for facility projects and renovations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain strong partnerships with other county departments
- Participate in Strategic and Tactical Planning for the library system and serve as an active member of the Library’s Senior Leadership Team (Director, two Assistant Directors, five peer Senior Managers)
- Supervise a distributed team of 6-8 library managers and staff
- Oversee an annual budget to support the purchase of furniture, equipment and elective maintenance for 24 facilities and a bookmobile
- Review and respond appropriately to security needs in libraries, including developing training for staff, liaising with Wake County’s Security Team and keeping staff and patron safety at the forefront of decision-making
- Engaging the community in future needs for library buildings
Senior Library Managers work from the Library Administration Building, 4020 Carya Dr., Raleigh, NC 27610. The typical schedule is Monday-Friday 8:00-5:00 or 8:15-5:15. Due to the nature of the work, some night or weekend work may be expected. There is some flexibility with working from home.

The Basics (Required Education and Experience)
- Master’s degree in Librarianship or related field: MLS, MLIS, MIS, ML from an ALA accredited program or NC program
- Three years of professional public library experience, including one year of public library management experience
- Equivalent education and experience are NOT accepted

Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience)
- Five years professional public library experience
- Experience managing facilities and/or CIP Projects
- Experience with Project Management
- Experience supervising professionals

Hiring Range: 73,492 – 102,892
Market Range: 73,492.00 – 132,292.00
