Full-Time Operations Manager

The Dignified Workday Operations Manager serves as the overall coordinator of production activities for the Dignified Workday (DWD) initiative. This includes coordinating a multitude of different worksites, supervision of site foremen and work crew leads.  This position coordinates day to day operations with clients contracting work to DWD, supports bidding on project work, and manages the schedule for weekly workday activities and assignment of workers to jobs. In this role, as the point person coordinating multiple projects performed across many locations in the community, the Operations Manager will organize the projects, create, and delegate participant work crews and work towards the daily project goals. They will also help in establishing / formalizing training / credentialing activities within the DWD program framework. The Operations Manager may from time to time lead daily work crews, and will work in close coordination with program management, case management staff as well as with partners and volunteers.

This position is full time and will work onsite at our Spokane County worksite locations.

ABOUT THE JOB

The major responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:Program Operations

  • Coordinates daily tasks of foremen and workers across a portfolio of ongoing project sites at various points of completion status according to priorities and plans, makes changes when necessary due to weather, projects and personnel.
  • Manages the weekly work schedule for participants and work crews to ensure effective and efficient delivery of successfully completed projects.
  • Serves as a primary point of contact with client businesses, maintaining timely communication of relevant information to client business owners and other DWD stakeholders.
  • Provides adequate resources to meet project schedules and safety needs.
  • Ensures safe use of tools, machinery and equipment while providing training on safety gear, helmets, and procedures.
  • Develops quality standards for work types across the spectrum of DWD activities; codifies training activities to drive workday activities toward those standards.
  • Partners with program leadership on bidding on projects, supports tracking of costs and hours of work, and supports the invoicing process with clients.
  • Collects documents and receipts and other internal paperwork as required in relation to worksites and workers.
  • Collaborates with DWD case management team members to ensure continuity of service for participants between work, housing, and other assistance activities.
  • Regularly reports project status to DWD leadership as well as other program team members / stakeholders.

Staff Supervision/Training

  • Trains coaches and mentors DWD staff and workers. on the essential functions of their positions. Monitors day-to-day staff progress and assesses the need for additional training. Provides and/or assists in training to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Conduct monthly check-ins, performance appraisals and corrective actions (when needed). Seeks feedback and input from partners, host sites and customers to ensure high quality customer service.
  • Resolve conflicts or miscommunications quickly and amicably.
  • Manages time keeping records for participants.
  • Delegates responsibilities and projects to foremen and crew members.
  • Creates an environment that values and promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion among staff, partners, and customers.
  • Performs staff recruiting, screening, and interviewing in assigned area in conjunction with HR. Makes recommendations to senior management for final interviewing and selection.

EXPERIENCE/POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with laborers on various construction and maintenance fields of work.
  • Experience with scheduling and managing workforce in relevant industries.
  • Use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, LinkedIn, and other business-related networking applications, as appropriate.
  • Flexibility in working some evening and/or weekend hours.
  • Must be able to work in a culturally diverse and fast-paced environment and demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity and cultural competency.

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Construction Management, Engineering, Workforce Development, or related field.
  • More than 5 years of experience working with laborers on various construction and maintenance fields of work.
  • Demonstrated success in a performance-based system and one year of experience working with employers, job placement, job development, sales, workforce development, job coaching, employment, and training.
  • Demonstrated success working with people from a variety of backgrounds which may include disabilities, criminal history, homeless, family violence, poverty, etc.

Job: Operations Manager – Dignified Workday
Primary Location: Spokane, WA
Salary: Full salary range is $61,250-89,000 annually. New hires in this role can expect a starting salary range of $61-68k, DOE.
