Job Description:
The Accountant position is directly accountable to the Director of Finance and Accounting for the following duties and responsibilities:
The individual filling this position is expected to play a positive role in helping the College change as necessary to effectively carry out its mission.
- Maintain budgetary and accounting control over College’s unrestricted funds and Collegiate High School (CHS) funds including preparation of associated budget amendments and reallocation, verify fund availability for expenditure transactions, prepare correcting journal entries.
- Prepare monthly accounting processing for Collegiate High School, e.g. Bank Reconciliation, CHS bus mileage invoice posting, student meal invoice posting, Capital Outlay posting.
- Review and approve requisitions for unrestricted and CHS funds in Banner.
- Review and approve, purchasing card and travel for unrestricted and CHS funds in Chrome River.
- Work with Okaloosa County School District Finance office with CHS budget, invoices, and other matters.
- Perform leading role in developing the CHS yearly budget and upload in Banner Finance system.
- Prepare CHS quarterly Board of Trustees Financial Statements and quarterly Financial Statements for Okaloosa County School District.
- Staff Program Development: approve request, maintain spreadsheet, approve payment for completed courses.
- Work with CHS administration regarding accounting matters.
- Work with auditors during CHS yearly finance audit and prepare materials for auditors’ requests.
- Assist Director of Finance and Accounting to prepare all required federal, state, local and internal reports involving the above-mentioned fund groups including the Annual Financial Report.
- Complete annual mandatory compliance training.
- Verify inventory from receiving and manage balances in ERP system, making journal entries as necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Finance and Accounting.

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or other Business related field with a minor in Accounting.
- Three years’ work experience in accounting field.
- Previous experience and knowledge of computerized accounting systems.
- PC experience and working knowledge of Microsoft Office Systems.
- Proficiency in using Excel and Microsoft Word.
- Detail oriented and able to multi-task effectively.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
