SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Lake Washington Institute of Technology (LWTech) seeks highly motivated and qualified candidates for the position of Custodian in the Facilities Department. Typical shift assignments range between Days, Swing and Night. We offer shift differentials for Swing and Night shifts.
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
Facilities and Operations is staffed by 20 people that help manage and operate LWTech’s buildings, infrastructure and grounds. We are committed to maintaining a healthy, accessible, and well-planned learning environment supporting the LWTech community in preparing students for today’s careers and tomorrow’s opportunities. Our team is the backbone of our mission. We ensure they receive training, resources, and leadership support so that they are prepared for the demands of the future.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Essential Duties
• Maintain assigned classrooms, offices, restrooms, kitchens and common areas using commercial/professional cleaning chemicals, tools and equipment
• Stock/maintain clean and safe custodial closets/storage areas
• As needed, provide coverage for team members on leave
• Replace burnt out lamps
• Support event set up/teardown; furniture moves
• Shovel snow and apply ice melter
• Remove litter and debris from entry ways
• Participate in required skill and safety trainings
• Practice healthy/safe work habits and follows accident reporting procedures
• Comply with local, state, federal laws and follow LWTech’s policies and procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned
Desired Abilities:
• Ability to participate in team environment, respectfully and safely
• Familiar with Work Order (CMMS) systems
• Ability to respond to urgent or emergency requests/needs
• Ability to speak other languages
QUALIFICATIONS
• Work experience in service-related industries
• Ability follow spoken and written direction in English
• Know basic computer skills
• Regularly lift 25lbs
• Climb ladders
In terms of an 8-hour workday, Continuously: walk and stand. Occasionally: exposed to dust, fumes, gases and chemicals, varying temperature/humidity levels; work around moving machinery and push/pull or carry up to 50 lbs. Frequently: lift and/or carry up to 25 lbs.; bend, squat, crawl, climb, and reach above shoulder level and twist. Perform repetitive action such as grasping, pushing/pulling, and fine manipulating. Generally, the job requires 65% walking, 20% standing, and 15% sitting.

Compensation
This is a 40 – hour per week position, 6:00 p.m. – 2:30 a.m. This is a union covered position. As defined by the current classified bargained agreement, newly hired employees shall be placed between Step 1 $3,896 and Step 5 $4,135 of the salary schedule in Appendix A of the IUOE Bargaining Agreement. Ongoing (Step 6- Step 11) step advancement is defined by the IUOE bargained agreement.Salary placement for current classified employees is per the classified bargained agreement.
