Job Description
- Install, repair, and maintain electrical and electronic equipment, especially traffic control equipment and related devices.
- Install traffic signal equipment, wiring detectors, and wiring controllers.
- Trace out electrical wiring diagrams to locate trouble.
- Dismantle and reassemble components.
- Maintain records of all signal work.
- Keep an accurate record of time worked and all materials used on a computer.
- Replace worn/faulty parts.
- General knowledge of the principles and practices applied in the safe/efficient use of tools, materials, and test equipment used in the electrical/electronic trades.
- Ability to diagnose equipment failure sources and repair/maintain a wide variety of complex electrical equipment.
- Knowledge of standard test equipment used to diagnose electronic components.
- Experience reading and understanding schematic drawings and wiring diagrams.
- Knowledge of the National Electric Code.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, schedule, and carry out work assignments effectively with minimal supervision.
- Experience performing manual and physical labor in varied environmental conditions.
- Safety toe shoes.
- Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
- Class B Commercial Driver’s License. (Don’t have one? STILL APPLY! You can get it through our on-the-job training program within 360 days of hire.)
- Strength to lift 80 pounds to shoulder height.
- Ability to use and operate an aerial bucket truck up to 60 feet.
- Good ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions and comply with all safety rules/policies to maintain a safe work environment.
- Ability to perform manual physical labor in the installation and removal of traffic signs and other traffic control devices.
- Ability to work in environmental conditions which include extreme cold and hot outside conditions, exposure to noise, dust, asphalt, traffic, and heavy construction.
- Your work will be performed without constant supervision and will be evaluated by your supervisor for efficient use of time and proper operation of Traffic Control Systems repaired and maintained.
- This role is subject to overtime work, when necessary, and subject to emergency callbacks.
- You will be exposed to hot and cold weather conditions and high volumes of moving traffic.
- A pre-employment drug test is required, and we will check with previous employers for the past 3 years about controlled substances/alcohol abuse.
- Associate’s degree in Electronics, and
- 1+ year experience in the repair and maintenance of specialized electronic devices, preferably including some responsibility for circuit modification; or
- An equivalent combination of training and experience.
