Full-Time Video Director
Job Description
Everytown for Gun Safety is hiring a Video Director to lead the video storytelling of our work and the movement to end gun violence. The ideal person for this role can identify compelling content opportunities, make connections, and lead a team to create clear, engaging video content to educate people and motivate supporters to take action. The position will be a part of the Digital Campaigns Team, and is based in our New York City or DC office (3 days in-person, 2 days remote).
In this role you will:
- Lead, inspire and encourage a team of video content strategists, including a Video Strategist, Video Associate, and Rapid Response Video Campaigner
- Build out the overarching video strategy for the organization, including developing and leading on processes, footage, and more.
- Design the video process (both internal and with external vendors) through all phases of production, including pitching or content ideation, scriptwriting, editing, filming, producing, project management, and moving content through approvals process
- Manage the overall team budget, including travel, vendor management, and equipment
- Develop resourcing plans for videos across the department and organization to ensure our videos are responsibly produced and in line with organizational goals and priorities
- Work with the Creative Team to ensure brand consistency is reflected throughout each product and champion brand opportunities that arise
- Present on video concepts to internal stakeholders and respond to feedback, including initiating and navigating complex approvals
- Train others on video best-practices and build out influencer program
- Support turning supporter-generated content into powerful video content that reflects our diverse movement, using tools like Soapboxx
- Brainstorm and advise on distribution strategies for all assets in collaboration with the social, web, and campaigns team
- Lead on our live streaming content, including identifying appropriate opportunities and coordinating everything from tech to collaboration for promotion
- Manage relationships with existing video consultants and build and maintain a repository of potential partners. This should include videographers, producers, animators, stock footage houses, as well as our professional photographers
You should have:
- 5+ years experience creating horizontal and vertical video content, including for campaigns, nonprofits, or advocacy
- Strong knowledge of video editing software, including Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, After Effects, Capcut Illustrator or others
- Experience using a variety of cameras, audio equipment, on-set lighting, audio recording, basic motion graphics, sound design
- Ability to produce concise, compelling video content for social media
- Ability to successfully manage long-term campaigns with rapid response moments while maintaining a strong attention to detail
- A mindset for inclusivity, equity and trying new things online
Pluses include:
- Knowledge of motion graphics or animation
- Experience and excitement around reaching new audiences
- Experience working with or cultivating relationships with influencers or content creators
- Experience using social media platforms
- Support in building Youtube as a social media platform.
- Written Spanish language proficiency, especially when used in organizing contexts
