Phoenix Futures at HMP Wayland have an exciting opportunity for someone looking to gain experience working in psychosocial treatment for substance misuse.
Previous experience is desirable, however not essential. Support Workers come from many different backgrounds and experiences, and you may have the skills required. Substance Misuse Practitioner
As a Substance misuse practitioner, you will support people at HMP Wayland to reach their goals and change their lives for the better. You will be part of a passionate and skilled team, contributing to the provision of tailored interventions and recovery approaches.
About You
To join us as a Substance misuse practitioner at HMP Wayland, you will need:
- Relevant experience of working in health and social care, ideally within the field of problematic substance use, mental health or another comparable field
- Evidence of effective partnership working and the ability to network for the benefit of the client and service.
- Evidence of managing a busy caseload or tasks and excellent organisational skills
- To be proficient in the use of Microsoft Outlook and Word and be familiar with database management systems
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Understand complex issues presented by people entering custody.
- Determined, with a drive to succeed and a willingness to learn.
- Passionate and enthusiastic about making a real difference to the lives of people we support.
Other organisations may call this role Recovery Worker, Recovery Co-ordinator, Criminal Justice Worker, or Substance Misuse Recovery Worker.

The Service
As a member of the Drug and Alcohol Team at HMP Wayland you will deliver psychosocial interventions in the form of 1-1 structured work and deliver a comprehensive range of group work specifically tailored to the needs of your clients. You will have the opportunity to train in all aspects of service delivery. At HMP Wayland we have a Recovery wing which is a full-time programme of psychosocial interventions. We have a specific programme tailored for clinical clients. You will be working closely with community drug and alcohol agencies and other agencies in the establishment. You will have the opportunity to visit other agencies both prison and community based. You will have access to free parking and access to a gym on site.

Interview Process
We want you to feel comfortable to be your best during the interview process, so that you can get to know Phoenix and we can get to know you. If shortlisted, you will be contacted for a short face to face interview. There will also be a short aptitude test in the form of a 10-minute presentation of which you will be provided the details of in advance. There will be 2 members on the interview panel. All details will be provided in advance so that you can feel adequately prepared, and we can support you with reasonable adjustments as required.
