Please note: Our headquarters is located at Hanscom Air Force Base in Massachusetts. Candidates who have the ability to work in person at Hanscom AFB 1-2x per week are strongly preferred. We will provide relocation assistance to those who wish to move to the local area. We will only consider exceptional remote candidates. 

The Position

There are multiple non-supervisory Acquisition Program Manager positions in the Kessel Run Division seeking motivated professionals.  These positions are responsible for guiding software intensive efforts through the development, fielding, and sustainment phases while ensuring successful execution for the Department of Air Force’s Command and Control (C2) programs.

The position will be responsible for supporting continuous delivery of war-winning software by creatively navigating and leveraging the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and DoD 5000.87_DAFI 63-150 (Software Acquisition Pathway).  This individual oversees the services, subscriptions and overall recommendations for contracting and funding strategy to support users needs, measurable business outcomes, and technical feasibility.  Program Managers follow the same practices as the Product Managers that support Product Development, but apply them to the DoD Acquisition System.

Who You Are

  • 5 years of defense acquisition experience with minimum: 3 years Project/Program Management experience and 3 years in a Program Office/similar organization (PM, PEO, DCMA, etc.)
  • A bachelor’s degree or any combination of education, training and experience in engineering, mathematics and statistics, or business, management, marketing, and related support services
  • Strong understanding of the Department of Defense (DoD) and Air Force system, subsystem, and equipment acquisition program management philosophy, policies, and procedures applicable through several phases of an acquisition life cycle; and program management procedures pertinent to development, procurement, production, logistics support, and techniques of employment for the system being acquired
  • Certified Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) Program Manager Practitioner or ability to obtain certification within required timelines
  • Exceptional time management and communication skills
  • Experience launching software at scale in a fast-paced product organization

What Your Responsibilities Will Be

  • Align acquisitions to support a product’s vision, strategy, outcome-driven roadmap and product backlog
  • Communicate the vision, strategy, roadmap, and backlog to different audiences with a tailored message
  • Define and track project metrics in order to demonstrate success and inform product decisions
  • Control acquisition project flow. Track acquisition projects against defined outcomes, discover potential problems before they occur, bring the right people together, and leverage a flexible techniques to keep projects flowing through the business system
  • Develops, implements, and controls contractual, financial, and technical aspects of a project/program through designated phases of the acquisition cycle for which no closely related precedents exist
  • Plans, organizes, directs, and coordinates activities of functional specialists including contracting, engineering, product management, warfighter architects, technical, test, and logistics
  • Reviews and directs the progress of contractors in meeting program objectives
  • Represents the organization at executive levels within the Government and to contractor/industry representatives

Additional Information

This is a Federal civilian service position within the United States Air Force. We are hiring at the equivalent of a GS-12 up to GS-13 level for this position. This means you can expect a base salary of $74,441 to $115,079  multiplied by your locality rate, based on your experience. You can find your locality definition here and see the pay tables for the GS scale here. Our headquarters is located at Hanscom AFB, MA; for a Boston-based employee, this would translate to a range from $98,240 to $151,870
