Yolk Recruitment Public Sector and Not-for-Profit is proud to be working with a social enterprise that’s dedicated to supporting new and established businesses by providing tailored expert business advice, access to finance, property requirements and skills training.

 

The Opportunity:

This social enterprise is looking to appoint an Accountant for a fixed-term contract until the end of September 2024. This is a hands-on role, ensuring key controls and reconciliations are reviewed, completed and available for the year end account preparation and audit. This role provides much needed additional capacity to help the Team manage their day-to-day workloads alongside the implementation of a new Finance system. The successful candidate will be well versed in providing appropriate, timely and accurate financial management information to assist in the running of the business.

This role could suit either an experienced accountant or a part qualified accountant with a few years of experience working in a Finance team.

This opportunity offer mainly home based working, with the occasional need to visit the Bridgend office for meetings.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Deliver the draft financial year end accounts and supporting documentation (31 March year-end) and to liaise with the Auditors in completing the annual audit.
  • Support the team with the implementation of the new financial system, to include testing the new system capabilities, providing mapping tables to smooth the transition between systems and delivering/writing training materials for users.
  • Review financial performance of business contracts and projects including liaising with budget holders and delivery partners. This will also include providing trend and variance analysis, developing financial performance reports and reconciling key balance sheet accounts.
  • Assist with production of monthly management accounts.

 

Essential Requirements:

  • Relevant UK professional accounting qualification, qualified through extensive experience or part qualified.
  • Experience of preparing financial accounts.
  • Experienced in computerised accounts package (SAGE 50 and Business Central are highly desirable).
  • Knowledge of HM Revenue and Custom’s current legislation, principally in terms of corporation tax, VAT and PAYE.
