Full-Time Senior Software Engineer, Servicing Platform

Job Description

The Service Platform team is the core engineering team building the operating system that powers Newfront. Its mission is to build a world class platform to enable clients to manage and understand their insurance and empower insurance professionals to serve clients. It is a high-impact org and owns multiple domains such as:
– Core data model to power all insurance products, operations and intelligence.
– Admin ecosystem to empower insurance professional to service clients and transact insurance
– Client-facing ecosystem to help clients solve their insurance needs and manage risk
– Emerging AI / LLM powered applications to supercharge both clients and insurance professionals to automate operations
This position is a salary, exempt, and full-time position. This is a Hybrid/Remote role (within the USA), with the option to work from any of Newfront’s office locations. Pacific Time Zone Work hours required. #LI-Remote

What You’ll Be Responsible For:

    • Be a technical leader and owner of Newfront’s Servicing Platform Engineering Team, working through ambiguity, concept validation and implementing a best-in-class solution. The team owns a large scope including but not limited to core insurance data foundation, end to end insurance servicing experience, and admin servicing tooling ecosystem. You will be leading initiatives to drive all domains.
    • Identify areas of improvement and drive foundation opportunities on the web and backend.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional design, product, and data science teams to design and deliver high-quality products and influence outcomes.
    • Follow data-driven approaches to iterate product features. Help build out the team and cultivate innovation and growth by driving cross-collaboration and execution of projects across multiple teams.
    • Mentor junior engineers with best practices and be a player/coach of our high-performance team to ensure code quality, commitment to craft and operational excellence.
    • In the AI domain, drive the rapid prototyping of software applications applying AI / ML technologies. Serve as the software generalist leading the development process from ML model design and implementation to backend and frontend development

 

Qualifications:

    • BS, MS or PhD in computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience.
    • 5+ years of experience leading web application development at scale.
    • Experience building leading, and architecting large systems at enterprise.
    • Strong programming and data engineering in one or more backend server languages (Java/Python/Ruby/Go/TypeScript/etc.).
    • Experience with web development best practices such as container, docker, continuous integration and continuous deployment.
    • Proficiency with RDBMS such as MySQL/PostgreSQL.
    • Ability to effectively communicate with non-technical stakeholders.
    • Ability to take a thoughtful, pragmatic, and efficient approach to problem-solving.
    • A track record of leading engineering project teams and working with cross-functional partners to deliver technical solutions that achieve team and organizational goals.
    • Passion to up-level yourself and those around you through curiosity, mentorship, and fostering a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
    • Some experience with modern frontend stacks. Experience with React.js/Next.js is preferred.

 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Experience using TypeScript on the backend is preferred.
    • Experience with JavaScrip backend frameworks such as Express/Node.js/Nest.js is preferred.
    • Experience with data pipeline and data driven analytics.
    • Experience with any of these DevOps, Cloud Infrastructure, Authorization, Authentication, Search Infrastructure (Elastic Search).
    • Experience with deploying or leveraging ML model and LLM to power business. Having decent understanding of ML essentials and having a background to work and speak the same language with data scientists.
    • Experience with state-of-the-art LLMs techniques, models and vendors.
    • Experience with LLM and other related frameworks like Langchain, LLamaIndex.
    • Strong experience with popular AI/ML libraries and frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn).

 

The pay range for this position in California, Washington, Colorado and New York at the commencement of employment is expected to be between $160,400 and $200,500/yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, the employee will be in an “at-will position,” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
