Temporary Human Resources Intern
Job Description
The City of Worcester is seeking a Human Resources Intern for the Hiring Division within the Department of Human Resources. Under the direction of the Chief Human Resources Officer, the position will support the onboarding process for seasonal staff and assist with general administrative duties. The employee will assist with collecting, reviewing, and tracking new hire documents for processing, notify applicants and candidates of application and onboarding status, and assist the office with file management and storage of documents.

ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS:
- Assist with the onboarding process for seasonal staff
- Ensure accurate, complete, and compliant documents with federal and state law, and City policies
- Contact candidates regarding missing paperwork or incomplete forms
- Track the onboarding process and following up on items that require attention
- Assist with data entry, file management, scanning and other clerical duties related to Human Resources functions
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of employee onboarding practice
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong time management skills and attention to detail
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to maintain professionalism under all circumstances
- Ability to perform basic math functions
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work with diverse populations
- Ability to operate standard office equipment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Currently enrolled in a College/University undergraduate program in a related field
- Excellent communication skills
- Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Six (6) months experience in an office setting,
- Six (6) months experience in a Human Resources or hiring position
- Six (6) months experience with data entry
SALARY RANGE: $16.00 per hour, up to 40 hours per week, temporary, non-benefitted
