Homeless Intervention Officer

37 hours per week

Salary £32,321 per annum

Key Responsibilities

To mediate and intervene to resolve anti-social behaviour working proactively with customers and surrounding communities to reduce the impact on them.

We’re now seeking a Homeless Intervention Officer to be responsible for the management of medium to high-risk anti-social behaviour and tenancy breaches across GCH Homeless Services.

In this role, you’ll work collaboratively with colleagues, customers, and external stakeholders in identifying and combatting anti-social behaviour and tenancy fraud, including obtaining possession of properties where intervention has failed. You’ll manage, monitor, and respond to escalated enquiries and complaints for ASB, ensuring that the appropriate action is taken, and professionally interview victims, perpetrators, and potential witnesses of ASB, ensuring risks are identified and appropriate support is put in place. A key focus of this role will be to support the homeless in sustaining their tenancy.

As a strong ambassador for GCH, you’ll build and maintain relationships across the business and develop partnerships with key external agencies to support effective service delivery and a great customer experience.

We’d like you to…

  • Be customer centric, fostering a positive customer experience throughout the customer journey.
  • Hold a relevant Housing qualification and have proven understanding and experience of delivering ASB and statutory housing services.
  • Have significant experience of ASB case management.
  • Have a thorough understanding of ASB legislation, best practice and its implications for tenants and housing organisations.
  • Have current and thorough knowledge and understanding of Housing Law and its application within social housing.
  • Have strong litigation skills and experience, comfortable using enforcement when required.
  • Have a good understanding and up to date knowledge of effectively managing tenancy breaches and the legislation surrounding this.
  • Have experience of completing court paperwork including Section 21 notices, Section 8 notices, injunctions, acceptable behaviour contracts.
  • Have experience of working with the Police, understanding closure orders.
  • Have proven experience of preparing legal notices and witness statements.
  • Have significant experience of sensitively dealing with customers with chaotic and complex needs.
  • Have experience of communicating strong messages and taking enforcement against customers when required.
  • Demonstrate the ability to make informed decisions when assisting and supporting staff in dealing with complex or challenging cases.
  • Have a sound understanding of Safeguarding, able to identify Safeguarding concerns and make referrals to appropriate agencies where required.
  • Be solution focused with exceptional communication skills.
