NEW HIGHER SALARY: $36,682 – $64,194
 
The Challenge
We are looking for a skilled mechanic to join our Cherokee County Equipment team.
 
In this role, you will:
    • Service and repair mechanical systems of gas/diesel automotive and heavy equipment.
    • Perform skilled mechanic work, including Preventive Maintenance, Tires, and Tubes, Wheel & Rims, Cranking Systems, Lighting Systems, Cooling Systems, Fuel Systems, and Hydraulic Systems.
    • prepare and maintain paperwork relating to employment, equipment repair, inventory, and service records.
    • Move parts and materials to repair and maintain equipment.
    • Safely operate equipment for testing.
 
What You Bring
    • A complete set of mechanic tools.
    • Class A Commercial Driver’s License with Tanker (N) endorsement. (If you don’t have this, still apply. You can get it through our on-the-job training within 360 days of hire).
    • Experience performing preventive maintenance on 1+ of the following: light, medium, heavy-duty trucks and heavy equipment.
    • Experience diagnosing basic electrical systems and performing proper wiring repairs.
    • Basic hydraulic system repair experience, including component replacement and hoses.
    • Troubleshooting and repair experience on 1+ of one of the following: light, medium, heavy duty, or farm equipment brake components.
    • Knowledge of diagnostic software, tools, and equipment for trucks and heavy equipment.
    • Ability to perform duties of position in accordance with all safety regulations.
    • Communications skills to understand written and verbal instructions.
    • A commitment to provide safe working environment by leading by example.
    • Ability to read and interpret Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) manuals.
    • Safety toe shoes.
Notes
    • We will conduct a pre-employment drug screening and background check for your past 3 years about controlled substances and alcohol testing.
    • We may require current certification by the EPA as a Type I, II, III, or Universal Technician.
    • You will need to work in bad weather such as snow and/or ice, tornadoes, hurricanes, etc. that can lead to working extended daily hours, weekends, and holidays.
Education & Experience
    • High School/GED diploma, and
    • 2+ years of relevant experience, or
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
