Full-Time Senior Consultant, Communications

Our communication consultants lead client engagements, from strategy and planning to execution of integrated communications campaigns. Our campaign work includes all aspects of digital and print communication, including building custom websites, creating personalized print materials, video, social media and everything in between. The Senior Consultant performs in a lead client relationship role and, possibly, as the primary relationship manager on select clients. The Senior Consultant is a critical thinker who contributes creative, if not innovative, thought to problem-solving and, leads or participates in initiatives to grow revenue, profitability, and intellectual capital. The Senior Consultant also contributes to a work culture that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive.

This is the key role to our success and our clients’ success—understanding what our clients are trying to accomplish and creating the strategy and individual deliverables that form an effective marketing campaign. Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:

  • Develop strategies to create or expand opportunities for doing business with targeted client and prospect organizations and for implementing high quality, creative and integrated approaches to delivering communications consulting services.
  • Build, maintain, and manage effective relationships at senior levels of management within assigned existing and prospect client organizations through client-focused service and strategic, business-oriented advice and counsel.
  • Contribute to the revenue growth of the Practice and the Company by leading and/or participates in marketing, business development, and cross-selling activities.
  • Act as a technical resource to colleagues both inside and outside the Practice on relevant consulting issues and inquiries and contributes to the overall growth and development of the Practice’s capabilities.
  • Contribute formally to revenue growth via ability to identify opportunities for extension of own projects and/or for obtaining assignments from existing or new clients.
  • Contribute to the Company’s thought leadership, intellectual capital, and/or innovation and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Provide guidance to less experienced team members to include delegating and reviewing work quality and outcomes and, mentoring/coaching for developmental purposes.
  • Lead client engagements from the development of a solid strategy through to planning and execution of integrated communications campaigns. Qualifications

Our ideal candidate has a journalism or writing background and 9+ years of employee benefits communications consulting experience at a Fortune 500 company, large HR consulting firm, benefits administrator or health plan.

You firmly believe that any good campaign is built on a solid strategy. You have the technical expertise to explain any nuance of a benefits plan. You have the creative communications and marketing expertise to get people to pay attention to that nuance. You understand how large organizations manage benefits and how to meet the needs of an over-stretched and under-pressure client. You’re inspired by the potential for employee communication to have a truly remarkable role in transforming people, our companies and our country and the world.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving, analytical ability and the curiosity and aptitude to stay current as trends change and technology evolves with a strong desire for ongoing learning.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills (oral / writing) along with ability to interact with a diverse audience of colleagues and clients and to employ active listening skills. The ability to establish credibility and trust at all levels within a client organization with effective interpersonal skills to positively present to and influence diverse audiences.
  • Extensive technical expertise to explain any nuance of a benefits plan and the creative communications and marketing expertise to draw attention to those nuances. An understanding of how large organizations manage benefits and how to meet the needs of our clients and to exceed their expectations.
  • A passion for the potential for employee communications to have a truly remarkable role in transforming people and enhancing value for our clients.
  • Creative skill with a dedication to continuous learning that includes contributing to the development of new methods, concepts and approaches to servicing clients and attracting new business.
  • Previous client account management expertise and demonstrated revenue generation capabilities and the talent to create emotional connections, understanding and to drive action by using communication techniques.
  • Superior writing, editing, verbal and web communication skills and experience with the ability to prioritize and deliver multiple projects concurrently and to partner across cross functional teams to solve problems and achieve success.
  • Flexibility and agility and intense desire for quality.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to excellence with strong business acumen.
  • Expert in MS Office applications
  • Experience using Asana a plus

The current salary range for this position is $124,500 to $165,000 plus opportunity for a discretionary performance bonus based on company profitability and employee performance.
