Job Description
Purpose of Position:
The Annual Giving Manager is responsible for growing annual revenue generated from individual donors and designing and implementing processes for donor outreach. The AGM achieves annual fund goals by identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding individuals for gifts under $2,000, and then growing those individuals to higher levels of giving as dictated by wealth screening, affinity, RFM data, etc. The AGM oversees all aspects of individual giving programs for the chapter, including donor clubs; donors of the month; appeals; and stewardship.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Helps maintain and execute an active and consistent process for managing donor cultivation and stewardship efforts. These efforts are to increase the support from current donors through the programs below.

- Vehicle Donors
- Oversee the Chapter’s donor club(s), Track national direct marketing and online giving results
- Support additional programs to steward donors through the pipeline.
- Donor Milestone Program
- Wishing Well Program
- Execute a comprehensive annual campaign plan that includes marketing collateral, quarterly touches (WWQN), stewardship pieces, and a quarterly survey
- Use appropriate prospect management strategies within Raiser’s Edge to move prospects to solicitation or to an upgraded giving level.
- Track all prospect donor moves appropriately in Raiser’s Edge using actions and notes.
- Foster a culture of cooperation and collaboration among the various departments of the Chapter.
- Foster a culture of philanthropy within the organization.
- Identify and communicate all potential opportunities and/or relationships that will increase our chapter’s ability to raise funds and grant wishes to the Director of Philanthropy.
- Represent the Chapter at fundraising events and in the community.
- Adhere to all Make-A-Wish America performance standards and Make-A-Wish Arizona internal controls, policies and procedures.
- Collaborate on and execute annual giving strategies with marketing team in hopes to reengage lapsed donors, cultivate new donors, and solicit/ steward existing donors
- Develop a master calendar that encompasses all direct-mail and digital pieces for donor appeals and stewardship
- Steward and engage donors through tours, call banks, and HWTYs
- Work in partnership with marketing to provide donor testimonials and relevant marketing pieces
- Conduct weekly audits ensuring all donors who give gifts $100+ are thanked in a timely matter
- Establish a new return mail process to provide address updates more efficiently and timely
- Work with Volunteer services to engage volunteers as donors
- Identify opportunities to qualify donors for greater giving, monthly giving, and annual giving. Assess and qualify lapsed donors to reengage
- Cultivate and move relationships with donors by conducting in-person meet-ups twice a month.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
- Extensive Raiser’s Edge (or similar database) experience mandatory.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in business or related equivalent experience.
- Non-profit fundraising experience is required.
- One to three years of experience in a similar role is required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:
As with all members of Make-A-Wish Arizona staff, Annual Fund Manager must believe in the mission and vision of the Make-A-Wish Chapter. He or she must model integrity, work to inspire colleagues and contacts and strive to build a solid base of loyal donors. In addition, the Annual Giving Manager should:
- Have experience and a high level of comfort in dealing with a diverse group of individuals (i.e. corporate and community leaders, government officials, and volunteers).
- Have prior success in fundraising program management.
- Have experience in team-based, cross-functional work environments with effective and respectful communication as a top priority.
- Possess high levels of integrity, trustworthiness, flexibility, compassion, and humor necessary to address the practicalities of a growing nonprofit, along with the creativity and persistence required to elicit new thinking and change.
- Be able to work with minimal supervision, to manage multiple priorities, and to work in a deadline driven environment.
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and Raiser’s Edge database software.
Physical Requirements:
- Communicate effectively in person or using telecommunications equipment.
- Enter and locate information on a computer.
- Grasp, manipulate and turn objects of varying size and weight requiring fine motor skills and hand eye coordination.
- Sitting position while performing office tasks and while driving.
- Ability to type on computer keyboard and use computer mouse.
- Write documents and reports using a writing instrument or computer.
- Occasional stooping, bending, lifting, carrying and/or placing of boxes of documents or other materials weighing less than 25 lbs.
- Presents information in small or large group settings and to individuals.
- Reads and visually verifies information often in small print.
- Stand, move, and/or walk between offices, departments and during fundraising or other events, sometimes on uneven ground.
- Exposure to inclement and outdoor weather when walking between office buildings and participating in fund raising or events.
- Travel to and from fundraising events and to fulfill other marketing and events duties, as needed.
