SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Located just outside of Seattle, WA, Lake Washington Institute of Technology (LWTech) was founded in 1949, and is the only public institute of technology in Washington State, that provides students with the latest cutting edge skills relevant to today’s workplace. LWTech offers ten applied bachelor’s degrees, more than 40 associate degrees and 93 professional certificates, in 43 areas of study, including STEM-focused programs in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The Guided Pathways Manager supports the oversight of Lake Washington Institute of Technology’s Guided Pathways work, ensuring alignment with the college’s Title III Strengthening Institutions U.S Department of Education grant. In coordination with the Vice President of Instruction and the Title III Director, the Guided Pathways Manager will provide leadership over Title III Activity 3 – Instruction, defined as:

Enhance faculty-driven, equity-centered teaching and advising practices – in hybrid, online, and in-person courses – to ensure historically underrepresented students can access and complete high-quality technical education.

The Manager will coordinate faculty advisor training and provide ongoing support with utilization of advising software, academic planning, transparent program pathways, and culturally competent academic advising practices. Additionally, the Manager will champion existing efforts that promote student sense of belonging, close equity gaps, and promote program completion.

This is a new position that reports to the Vice President of Instruction. This is a full-time, temporary position lasting 5 years. If funding is available, the position can be extended.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Manage faculty advising efforts with a focus on continuous improvement of impact, efficiency, and quality.
• Use change management techniques to align currently disparate faculty advising practices and ensure close collaboration with student services.
• Ensure thoughtful, and collaborative effective project management from design, to implementation, to evaluation, and subsequent iterations of guided pathways initiatives.
• Support development of teaching reforms in curriculum design, teaching methods, and instructional design for hybrid, online, in-person and post-pandemic modalities
• Coordinate with instructional staff to implement integrated training sequences which incorporate or upscale current college strategies for supporting historically underrepresented populations.
• Coordinate and facilitate guided pathways trainings in various modalities on topics such as the role of faculty in advising, program pathway redesign, culturally competent advising, and use of advising tools like CTCLink and Starfish.
• Provide collaborative leadership for professional development that builds the capacity of faculty to incorporate Guided Pathways practices into their respective roles and responsibilities.
• Establish positive working relationships with academic advising personnel and subject matter experts to incorporate and develop best practices for faculty advisors.
• Collaboratively create and implement tools, processes, practices, and policies informed by equity-minded Guided Pathways principles and approaches.
• Serve as a liaison to Student Support Teams, the designated points of contact for students and faculty, to move towards relationship-focused service over transactional support. Assign, as feasible, designated faculty points of contact to support teams.
• Collaborate with Engagement & Learning Office (E&L) to assess training needs, identify knowledge gaps, and develop employee professional development opportunities related to guided pathways.
• Provide quarterly updates to, and solicit feedback from, campus administration and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Instructional Council (IC), Curriculum Review Council (CRC) and support the Engagement & Learning Office (E&L) to institutionalize curricular redesign to support in-person, hybrid and online options.
• Provide support to faculty to update program maps and annual schedules for accuracy and transparency.
• Support the Office of Instruction and appropriate departments on campus in scaling existing success programs: The 4 Connections, designated Diversity and Social Justice classes, and expanding a writing center within Supplemental Instruction.
• Track grant progress related to Guided Pathways and Title III Activity 3 – Instruction.
• Assist with annual grant performance reports.
• Prepare and submit budget revisions to Title III Director based on budgeted expenses compared to actual expenses. Track faculty training contracts and manage expenses under Title III.
• Represent the college to external college and community organizations as needed
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

• Master’s degree in education or related field from an accredited institution (Candidates with Master’s in progress will be considered)
• Three years of work experience with progressive leadership responsibilities
• Demonstrated understanding of Guided Pathways
• Experience centering historically underrepresented students in the approach to work
• Proven ability to develop training, facilitate training, and champion organizational effectiveness and initiatives
• Excellent communications skills – must be able to communicate effectively, orally and in writing

Preferred

• Experience providing academic advising
• Experience in project management and change management
• Ability to champion organizational initiatives through strategic, inclusive, and creative problem solving and decision-making processes
• Demonstrated ability to develop effective relationships with a diverse range of constituents
• Strong meeting management ability and effective facilitation skills
• Experience using qualitative and quantitative data to make decisions, help people align around shared goals, and complete reporting requirements
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and web-based applications

Compensation & Work Schedule Salary placement is $7,083 per month. This is a 40-hours per week, exempt position. This is a full-time, temporary position lasting 5 years. If funding is available, the position can be extended.
