About you

You are an experienced practitioner in the social sector or field of place-based partnerships. You are adept at using strategic insight and analysis to frame questions, develop hypotheses and test or implement solutions. You are a thoughtful and skilled communicator and know how to distill themes and insights verbally and in writing. You deeply value results-focused relationship building and have a very strong client orientation. You understand multi-faceted tactics to support network members and approach all interactions with a listening and solutions-focused stance. Though you are self-directed, you also know when and how to collaborate with others.

About the position

Reporting to the Senior Director of Network Impact, the Network Advisor will be the first point of contact for advanced StriveTogether network members and provide a cadre of supports. The Advisor will manage a portfolio of network members to understand their work, advise them on key areas of need and connect them to people and resources to help accelerate their work. Advisors will curate rapid cycle learning from their portfolio, organize and facilitate network events and collaborate with colleagues to bring learning and insights to the organization, network and field. A successful candidate will have a track record of social sector experience, a deep customer service orientation and a commitment to solutions-focused learning and improvement.

Responsibilities and duties

Network Advisory Support

  • Services a portfolio of advanced Cradle to Career Network members to understand their work, connect them to resources and share learning internally and across the network.
  • Builds knowledge of and relationships with the advanced network members, regularly connecting, studying their internal and external materials, landscape and assessments with a focus on where they have been, where they are going and what it will take to transform systems, move along the Theory of Action and improve cradle-to-career outcomes.
  • Stays abreast of collective and individual advanced network member partnership status and progress.
  • Meets monthly or more often as needed with network members virtually, with annual visits to network member sites to build/strengthen relationships with partners and understand local context
  • Provides high-quality “client” support to connect network members to relationships or information to help accelerate their work.
  • Contributes to Civic Infrastructure Assessment data collection with network members and participates in advanced assessment processes.
  • Works closely with system change navigators, other network advisors and the senior director of network impact on network status and learning to support the creation of relevant and integrated programmatic supports.
  • Understands the progress of network member grantees, provides updates to impact investment team and connects grantees to multiple support methods as appropriate.
  • Provide a unified and comprehensive experience for network members.

Network Effect, Learning and Offerings

  • Identify and codify learning, bright spots and emerging best practices from network member related to shared community vision, data driven decision making, collaborative action, partnership sustainability and outcomes improvement.
  • Synthesize, package and share this learning both among and between network members and internally with team members in ways that are specific and actionable.
  • Design and facilitate virtual and in-person network offerings that further network learning and address key needs or challenges.
  • Advise on program and workshop content for Cradle to Career Network Convening, working closely with the Senior Specialist of Network Impact and the Network Impact Associate.

Qualifications and skills

  • Minimum seven years of leadership experience in the social sector or with place-based partnerships.
  • Proven “client-centered” approach and strong relationship management to deeply understand client needs.
  • Strong results orientation and proven ability to advise and influence stakeholders.
  • Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills with a record of solutions-focused execution.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills, including using effective messaging and channels to simply communicate complex ideas.
  • Strong ability to synthesize and articulate key messages.
  • ​​Ability to work on several tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, with experience organizing and prioritizing work quickly in response to changing needs.
  • Self-directed mindset to achieve results and collaboration across functional teams.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt practices to embrace new information and innovation.
  • Approximately 25% travel required.
