Job Posting: Data Scientist (GeoMatch) at Stanford’s Immigration Policy Lab
The Immigration Policy Lab (IPL) is hiring a data scientist to work on its GeoMatch research portfolio. Situated within IPL, the GeoMatch team partners with governments to study and implement an algorithm-based matching tool to connect immigrants, including refugees and asylum seekers, to locations within a host country where they are most likely to thrive. With a pilot of the tool already in use and several additional pilots planned for 2024 and beyond, the new data scientist will play a key role in adapting the algorithm to meet the varied and dynamic needs of our partners’ resettlement processes.
The ideal candidate will have the technical expertise to fill this role and bring an enthusiasm for problem solving and a desire to collaborate on projects with real-world impact. GeoMatch is a global research initiative that functions with the adaptability of a start-up. Its work is driven by a lean and passionate team dedicated to developing user-focused software products and generating rigorous evidence of their impact.
