Job Responsibilities:

o          Analyze materials and associated data using a variety of characterization methods to determine material properties (structure, chemical, electronic, thermal, and/or mechanical).
o          Identify and develop new characterization methods to guide materials design.
o          Determine process-property correlations to iterate materials development.
o          Generate and deliver technical reports; communicate updates and progress towards deliverables.
o          Collaborate cross-functionally with an open mind to new ideas in a fast-paced startup company.
o          Use scientific, mathematical, and engineering principles to solve problems and improve processes.
o          Demonstrate ability to perform advanced scientific problem solving and effectively communicate results.
o          Design, propose, implement, execute, and review plans to ensure company goals are achieved.

 

Minimum Requirements:

•         PhD degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field and 5+ years of experience in a relevant field OR

•         Master’s degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field 7+ years of experience in a relevant field

•         Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field AND 9+ years of experience in a relevant field
•          Subject matter expert in carbon allotropes (graphene, carbon nanotubes, carbon nanowires, fullerenes, graphite, and/or carbon black).
•          Expertise in carbon allotrope synthesis, functionalization, and characterization.
•          Deep understanding of carbon allotrope structural, chemical, and electronic properties.
•          Experience in process development.
•          Knowledge of polymer science.
•          Knowledge of dispersion science.
•          Proven track record working on cross-functional technical projects.
•          Experience in compiling and analyzing large data sets through known correlation methods and statistical software.
•          Expertise determining process-property correlations.
•          Hands-on experience in metrology and materials characterization (structure, surface, chemical, electrical, mechanical, elemental).
•          Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate in English to an international scientific audience.
•          Self-motivated and safety conscious.
•          Ability to work independently and to participate creatively in a collaborative team environment.
•          Competency to work on multiple tasks in a limited amount of time and to independently set priorities to accomplish numerous tasks to meet deadlines.

 

Compensations Range:

The expected base salary range for this position is between

$155,200.00 – $232,800.00

The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include location, relevant prior experience and/or education, or particular skills and expertise.

This compensation and benefits information is based on Lyten’s estimate as of the date of publication and may be modified in the future. We generally do not negotiate on salary once we have made an offer.  The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include location, relevant prior experience and/or education, or particular skills and expertise. New hires joining the company tend to be paid within the starting base pay range noted above, with opportunities to increase pay over time based on development of additional skills, competencies, and company-specific knowledge.

 

In addition to base pay this position is eligible for tier based bonus and equity, healthcare, dental, vision, corporate discounts, paid holidays, PTO and sick time, 401K, employee relocation plan (if applicable)
