With more than 40,000 members, 300 student staff and nearly 65 career staff, we offer a huge range of services across multiple campuses.  We run coffee shops, bars, nightclubs, advice centre, representation, student groups and much more.  We’re a voice for our members, a platform for achieving what matters to them, our mission is simple;

We empower students to make NTU the best academic and personal experience for themselves and others

What’s the job?

We are a forward-thinking organisation that wants to be better, we have 40,000 students with different perspectives, ideas, and ambitions – these are our members. We believe that diverse communities of fulfilled students have the power to create positive change, and we’re passionate about finding new ways to support them. As our Marketing, Communication & Digital Manager your challenge is simple – help us make this happen.

We are looking for someone who understands that different is good, that more diversity means better ideas, and a greater impact. You’ll lead and inspire a team of creative and innovative full-time staff. You’ll be responsible for finding new and creative ways to engage with our members, helping them to understand all of the benefits of their membership. That means overseeing our brand, building our comms channels and help shape our data collection to meet the changing needs of our members. You work with all areas of the organisation from membership, infrastructure and commercial, taking a lead role in creating campaigns and developing engaging and relevant content for our diverse student membership.

Who are you?

We want someone who is creative, who has the ability to use their imagination and inspire those around them.

We want someone who isn’t afraid of a challenge, who will challenge the status quo and drive change in our complex and diverse organisation.

We want someone who is commercial aware, who can spot or create opportunities and maximise them.

We want someone who can motivate others towards our common vision, and who embodies our values of inclusivity and who is energised by a vibrant and varied workplace.

You don’t need to have worked in a students’ union before, we just want someone who cares about making a difference and wants to support others to achieve their ambitions.

Why apply?

Because you want to work in an energic, dynamic and innovative workplace. The exact opposite of corporate, we’re progressive, creative individuals working to make a difference. In return for your passion and experience we offer the flexibility for work-life balance, and a competitive salary for a non-profit sector.

We are committed to equality of opportunity for all, we embrace diversity and actively seek to attract individuals with unique backgrounds and perspectives. To build a more sustainable future, we need the best people with a range of experiences and skills, we are dedicated to helping to close the diversity gap across the sector and would love to see more women, people of colour, LGBTQ+ in positions of leadership within our organisation. We want to create a diverse and inclusive work environment and are actively looking for people who share our values.

Whoever you are, if you’re an experience manager or someone looking for their first management position, we’d love to hear from you.

The deadline to apply is at 12noon on 7th December 2023.
