Your opportunity at a glance

The WSLCB Information Technology Services Division is announcing an exciting opportunity for Application/ETL Developer (IT Application Development – Journey) at Olympia, WA. This positions report to the Application Developer Supervisor in the WSLCB’s Information Technology Services Division (ITSD).

This position is part of the Salesforce Team which serves to define business technical needs, design, develop and maintain software solutions for WSLCB that are innovative, secure, and meet IT industry standards. The Salesforce Application team consists of the WSLCB’s Salesforce and ETL developers, system administrators and business analysts.

In this role, you will be responsible for design, development, enhancement, and maintenance of multiple enterprise applications including all inter-system and inter-agency interactions. You will provide expert level technical services by designing, testing, implementing, and maintaining multi- dimensional information systems. You will also have responsibilities of a database developer by taking business requirements to analyze and design, develop, test, normalize, install, and implement agency databases and data interfaces, including writing scripts for automated backups, replication and ETL processes.

Duties

Some of the duties you will perform are:

  • Develop detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured application architected designs to assure quality, efficient and secure complex software systems and databases for staff, other agencies, and the public to consume daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly work.
  • Develop complex, user intuitive, ADA compliance, and secure web user-interfaces which includes secure architecture design, coding, unit tests, function tests, system tests, and implementation.
  • Architect application components, APIs, and web services for re-usable code.
  • Provide system analysis, consult, and support system failures of small to complex information systems independently.
  • Develop, review, and approve code modification of fellow developers before migration into user acceptance testing and into production.
  • Plan, design, document, review and write code to create, enhance or fix application components.
  • Using Cloud ETL services to build integration with Custom-Off the Shelf (COTS), Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) software, and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) services.
  • Coordinate with COTS, PaaS, and SaaS vendors, application administrators and technical staff on defining technical integration, logging, reporting and security requirements, implementing, upgrades, enhancements, and security patches.
  • Verify and validate successful code migration and implementation including code review of Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) systems.
  • Write code to enhance, improve logging, reporting and security of COTS, PaaS, and SaaS solutions.
  • Optimize data models for PowerBI and write custom ETL solutions to extract transform data and load into WSLCB Salesforce system, and various interfaces for internal and external agency use.
  • Plan and conduct complex functional, system-integration, and performance testing of code changes.
  • Plan, document, perform, coordinate, validate, approve, and implement data migration plans.
  • Create, review, and maintain active work items for salesforce development team.
  • Design/create/update databases and backend architecture for large data exchanges for real-time transactions with sensitive data.
  • Design and build secure data exchange portals using multiple factor authentication for multiple users (i.e., internal staff in different locations, other agencies, employers, public).
  • Design and write code to develop interactive prototype to demonstrate screen flow and user’s interface architecture.
  • Deploy code in accordance with WSLCB deployment release strategy.
  • Convert data, database schema, and records from complex custom and COTS/SaaS/PaaS databases.
  • Create and build application code release workflows.
  • Maintain System documentation and Security & Coding Standards.

 

 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

At least three (3) years of demonstrated experience as an application developer. This should include progressive experience and knowledge in following areas:

  • Software development languages and MVC frameworks.
  • HTML5, CSS, JavaScript.
  • Platform authentication patterns (SAML, SSO, OAuth).
  • Scripting languages and data management. (e.g., SOQL, SOSL, T-SQL, Azure cloud services, data management, database architecture, ETLs, data profiling, data modeling and data conversions, especially in conversion to the Salesforce platform).
  • Data integration tools and experience integrating solutions with different business systems.
  • Building and maintaining applications and their continuous integration, continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines requiring source control (GIT).
  • Comparing benefits and limitations of open-source software vendor developed software.
  • Maintaining RESTful web services (e.g., Apex, SQL, SOQL, and Python or other Azure compatible language to build WebAPI).
  • Developing system estimates for new software solutions, full or partial software solution replacements, and upgrading software solutions.
  • COTS/SaaS/PaaS software and ability to provide integration and security requirements for RFIs and RFPs.
  • Working in an environment where IT security best practices, policies, and procedures are required and audited, with having responsibility for enforcing and administering the policies and procedures.
  • Documenting functional and non-functional requirements, building from written requirements, developing, automating, and performing tests that validate code complies with written requirements.
  • SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle), and Agile development methodology.
  • System security issues.
  • Collect, synthesize and evaluate information for research and problem solving.

Preferred/Desired Qualifications: 

  • A Bachelor’s degree or above from an accredited college or university in Data Science, Information Technology, Web Development, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 3 or more years of experience in directly working with the Salesforce product suite, including Sales, Service, and Experience Clouds as a Salesforce developer and administrator.
  • 3 or more years of experience in all current Salesforce development languages including Apex, VisualForce, Lightning, SOQL/SOSL, and Omniscript.
  • 3 or more years of experience in data reporting tools and at least 1 year using Microsoft or Salesforce reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of Cloud Architecture and recent experience developing using PaaS, SaaS, IaaS with focus on scalability, security and integration challenges.
  • Current Salesforce Developer Certification.
  • Recent experience in building Salesforce Lightning applications.
  • Experience with VSCode, Git and Salesforce (SFDX) deployment life cycle.
