As the Data Analytics Supervisor, you will work closely with the Director of Performance and Operations to champion a progressive strategy around the use of data to analyze trends and craft informed recommendations for innovations to optimize performance and improve our business processes. You will supervise a team of analysts who consult with work group leaders to identify the metrics needed to inform key business operations and performance management, automate the provision of such data to the extent possible, and respond to data requests from the agency.

 

Schedule: Hybrid, in office 3 days per week. 9/80 flex option after probation.

 

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Manage a team of two data analysts
  • Develop and collaborate in the implementation of an agency wide data analytics strategy and establish best practices to improve data collection, analysis, and reporting
  • Interface with Director of Development Systems Performance around agency- wide metrics as it relates to system-wide performance tracking
  • Interface with the City’s Technology Services Department to provide a consistent and coordinated approach to data analytics and data projects where appropriate
  • Implement data analytics policies and procedures in support agency wide performance and data goals
  • Collaborate with work group supervisors, managers, and directors to advance key innovations and maintaining a culture of accountability around performance
  • Oversee the development and tracking of performance metrics agency wide and support with identifying trends and issues for review
  • Lead staff as they document departmental processes and workflows, as well as data collection and reporting requirements
  • Supervise the development of complex and accurate data models and assist in forecasting departmental metrics to inform resource allocation and priority areas for investment
  • Perform other duties as assigned

In addition, our ideal candidate will have some or all of the following skills and/or experience:

  • Proficient in data management tools, including the ability to write and quality assure SQL code
  • Proficient with developing dashboards in Power BI or similar data visualization software
  • Proficient in data analysis techniques with an understanding of basic statistical concepts, advanced data modeling and predictive analytics
  • Experience with organizational process improvement, performance measurement, and program evaluation
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the capacity to collaborate across CPD and the City and County of Denver
  • A creative and innovative approach to problem solving
  • Strong attention to detail and highly organized
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to see the ‘bigger picture’ on current CPD database management and processes, evaluate effectiveness and areas of improvement, and create a larger vision to determine how to best utilize the data that is most useful to the agency

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Public Administration, Government Analytics, Information Technology, or related field
  • Experience: Four (4) years of professional level experience, to include at least three years as a Data Analytics Senior
  • Education/Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education
  • Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements
