Job title: Senior Education Officer

Location: 40% time in our London, Birmingham or Manchester office with regular travel to other offices; London (every 4-6 weeks) and other offices (every 3 months)

Salary: £28,000 – £31,500 (London) or £26,000 – £29,000 (Greater Manchester or Birmingham)

Hours: 5 days per week (37.5 hours), open to flexible working arrangements

Contract: Permanent

 

Purpose of the role:

Breaking Barriers’ Education Programme was started in 2017 to complement our core Employment support. The Programme is designed to enable refugees to achieve the level of English that is needed to enter the workplace or further education by providing supplementary courses to statutory provision. Covering a range of levels of English language courses, from Pre-Beginner to Business Writing, the Programme has expanded to include IT and Numeracy and Digital Skills, and aims to branch out into further courses.

The Education Programme relies on skilled volunteers who support with curriculum development and lead our education courses, helping our clients learn English and improve their IT skills.

The Senior Education Officer will have a significant role in supporting the Education Manager with expansion of the Education Programme into new regions. The successful applicant will ensure that the implementation of the Programme is achieved to a high standard across multiple regions and nationally.

They will work closely with the Education Manager to support with the design and delivery of new pilots and programme developments. They will also take responsibility for the management and welfare of education volunteers, have oversight of the delivery of education classes across multiple regions and lead in the development of the curriculum.
