Full-Time Housing Coordinator

Job Description

Summary

The Housing Coordinator will supervise the Monika’s House & Mary Mac House staff and ensure the houses are always staffed appropriately. The Housing Coordinator is responsible for providing all clients with case management and crisis-based advocacy in the absence of the Shelter Advocates at Monika’s House and/or Case Manager/Advocate at Mary Mac House. Additionally, the Housing Coordinator will provide resources and referrals to clients, and co-case management, and maintain the overall organization and functions of Monika’s House and Mary Mac House.

Responsibilities:

· Ability to work with and assist clients regardless of sex, gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, age and/or disability.

· Supervise and provide guidance to all Monika’s House and Mary Mac House Staff.

· Ensure staffing is adequate for all shifts.

· New employee training and supervision.

· Manage time sheets and ensure accuracy and completion.

· On-call supervision assistance on weekends as needed.

· Provide shift coverage as needed.

· Consult with Housing Director with any employee matters that are complex and/or delicate in nature.

· Arrange Case Management services to Monika’s house clients in collaboration with Shelter Advocates.

· Lead phone screenings of new clients.

· Complete intakes and placements for new clients as needed.

· Enter/exit all clients into HMIS (within three (3) days).

· Ensure data is entered into Osnium as per instructions from the Housing Director.

· Complete all Agency-required Stats for each month including DHS, HMIS, and credit card.

· Arrange for community connect assessments with all clients.

· Enroll client in address confidentiality program.

· Check in with clients for support as needed.

· Advocate for clients as needed and coordinate with community resources.

· Ability to work with an ethnically, racially, socially, and religiously diverse client population.

  • Follow all agency, VAWA, and HIPPA compliant policies related to sharing client information with law enforcement, DHS, courts, or other agencies with whom the client is actively involved.

· Identify clients for Mary Mac House and Sojourners House in coordination with Housing Director and Shelter Advocates.

· Approve Financial Assistance for clients: empowerment funds (gift card, credit card or check request); bus tickets; in-kind donations.

· Respond to any crisis as needed and/or available for client check-ins as needed.

· Provide referrals for clients as needed. Provide clients resources as needed.

· Close client files upon exit.

· Manage food bank grants and make orders. Make a weekly trip to food bank to obtain orders and free food items. Complete monthly report. Attend any required meetings. Prepare for annual inspection. Keep food pantry organized.

· Oversee the maintenance of Monika’s House and Mary Mac House and coordinate authorized repairs with Housing Director as needed.

· Work with the Employment & Housing Resource Specialist, as well as community contacts, to facilitate clients’ successful completion of goals.

· Attend all required meetings both internally and externally.

· Attend Housing Team Meetings as scheduled.

· Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

· Supportive of the Domestic Violence Resource Center’s mission.

· Must pass a criminal background check.

· Must complete the 40-hour Victims’ Advocacy Training, as required by the State of Oregon, within 30 days of employment, or as soon as reasonable.

· Adhere to DVRC policies and procedures.

· May be asked to represent DVRC at public events, meetings, services, clubs, etc.

· Bachelors’ Degree preferred. Similar experience, in lieu of degree, will be considered.

· Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required.

· Individual case-management skills and/or trauma-informed skills for crisis intervention highly preferred.

· Strong oral and written communication skills required.

· Ability to set boundaries and model House rules (no drug and alcohol use, etc.).

· CPR/1st aide certified within 90 days of employment.

· Ability to consistently and effectively model appropriate behavior skills and boundaries to both adults and children.

· Experience working with people in crisis situations (previous work or experience with victims of abuse is preferred).

· Knowledge of local domestic violence, sexual assault, violence, and social organizations.

· Time management skills and ability to work independently and with a team.

· Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, volunteers, and clients.

· Ability to climb stairs and a hilly driveway.

· Ability to lift 20-25 lbs.

· Must have an Oregon Driver License with minimum 3 years of driving experience and a clean driving record.

· Driving on behalf of agency business is required.

· Ability to use technology necessary for day-to-day functions in a business environment including databases, Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, etc., and Internet technology as work may be required to be completed remotely as needed.

Physical Requirements:

· Manual Dexterity-Regularly

· Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time-Constantly

· Ability to bend, stoop, push or pull items weighing 25 pounds or less-Occasionally

· Walking-Ability to move within the office to access files, office machines, etc.-Regularly

Sensory/Cognitive Demands:

· Hearing, listening, vision, speaking, thinking, memory/recall-Constantly

Working Conditions:

· Work environment is in a home-like setting that has natural and artificial lighting. May be exposed to cleaning solvents, bloodborne pathogens, and animals. Position requires frequent use of steps, repetitive motion with keyboard and use of computer mouse. Property has a hilly driveway and caution is advised during rainy, icy, and or snowy conditions. May require driving on a regular basis. Overtime may be required.
