Job Description

Massachusetts Advocates Standing Strong is a statewide self-advocacy organization that supports, nurtures, and promotes self-advocacy in youth and adults with developmental disabilities. Our mission is to empower self-advocates through education so we make choices that improve and enrich our lives.

We are looking for someone to help with a bowlathon fundraiser in the fall, along with planning the 20 year anniversary of the rainbow program in 2024 along with our annual conference. Reporting to the Statewide Coordinator or Operations Manager, and working collaboratively with the Communications and Outreach Manager, the Development Coordinator & Event Planner is responsible for the development and event planning needs of MASS. This role requires a resourceful and engaging Development Coordinator to develop creative marketing campaigns to build awareness and interest in MASS events and fundraising activities. A successful Development Coordinator & Event Planner will be resourceful and charismatic with the ability to plan initiatives and manage multiple tasks at once.

Compensation.

This is a part-time non-exempt position for 25 – 30 hours per week with an initial rate of $20.00 – $24.00 per hour, depending on experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the planning and execution of fundraising events and external facing initiatives. This role will be focused on the developing events and additional fundraising activities, initial planning and preparation of the MASS Rainbow 20 Year Anniversary along with the annual conference.
  • Develop solicitation and other development communications (digital via Constant Contact, Eventbrite, and social media channels, as well as print and direct mail campaigns).
  • Develop social media posts to advertise events and post to relevant pages.
  • Creating event pages on social media channels, as well as Eventbrite.
  • Applying for relevant foundation grants, and other funding as directed by the Statewide Coordinator and MASS Board.
  • Website edits and updates as needed.
  • Track progress towards stated goals.
  • Track donations and regional memberships.
  • Help establish a new database for tracking donations and memberships.
  • Prepare donor acknowledgement letters and donor communications.
  • Other activities and tasks as requested by the Statewide Coordinator.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years work experience in a non-profit development or event planning role.
  • Proven strong event management skills.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to coordinate individuals, teams and volunteers.
  • Ability to problem-solve, take initiative, exercise sound judgement and work both independently and as a team player.
  • Ability to multitask, while prioritizing projects and managing tight deadlines.
  • Ability and willingness to occasionally work evenings or weekends for meetings, events, etc.
  • Experience developing solicitation and other communications.
  • Experiencing creating social media posts.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven networking skills.
  • Experience with Social Media (Facebook and Instagram) and Constant Contact a plus.
  • Experience with database platforms for tracking donations and fundraising a plus.
  • Experience with direct mail campaigns a plus.
  • Experience with Eventbrite preferred.
  • Experience in Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, and Calendar) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) required.
