Position Overview
The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire a licensed Registered Nurse to serve as a Nursing Supervisor at the Fox Developmental Center in Dwight, Illinois. This energetic and detail-oriented person will supervise professional and paraprofessional staff, ensuring twenty-four-hour supervisory coverage, directing staff on individuals’ needs and the implementation of treatment plans, and reviewing nursing assessments and nursing care plans for completeness, accuracy, and appropriateness of plans. The Fox Developmental Center serves a broad spectrum of individuals with behavioral and medical needs.
Job Responsibilities
1. Serves as Nursing Supervisor for the Fox Developmental Center.
2. Serves as full-line supervisor.
3. Assists the Director of Nursing (DON) and the Assistant Director of Nursing in developing, documenting, monitoring, and implementing policies and procedures.
4. Evaluates services for individuals served by conducting ongoing audits (e.g. quality assurance) of services provided in adherence to established goals and standards.
5. Provides professional nursing services to individuals on an assigned shift.
6. Serves as a member on a variety of committees at the facility.
7. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Requires licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois.
2. Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to the completion of four (4) years of college with coursework in nursing.
3. Requires prior experience equivalent to three (3) years of progressively responsible professional nursing experience in a public or business organization.
Preferred Qualifications (in priority order)
1. Three (3) years of professional nursing experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities and/or developmental disabilities.
2. Three (3) years of professional experience supervising professional nursing staff.
3. Three (3) years of professional experience recommending and implementing nursing policies and procedures relative to the latest trends and nursing standards.
4. One (1) year of professional experience reviewing program needs, setting priorities, and assigning nursing staff to ensure compliance with standards of care and practice for a public or private organization.
5. One (1) year of professional experience training nursing staff on nursing care practices and techniques.
6. One (1) year of professional nursing experience communicating in verbal or written form with patients and/or individuals.
7. One (1) year of professional experience performing quality assurance assessments on nursing services and treatments provided to patients and/or individuals.
8. One (1) year of basic proficiency in the use of common office equipment, including basic computer skills.
Conditions of Employment
1. Requires the ability to work after business hours, weekends, and holidays on a rotation basis as Administrator on Duty (AOD).
2. Requires the ability to physically restrain individuals as necessary to prevent injury to individual or others.
3. Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.
4. Requires the ability to travel in the performance of job duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
5. Requires the ability to meet all agency vaccine/health-related policies and guidance.
6. Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
7. Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
