This is not a Fundraising Position.
Join our campaign to elect Deon Tedder to the 42nd Senate District
We’re urgently hiring campaign staff to knock door to door to engage voters in Charleston to elect Deon Tedder. Canvassers are paid hourly to go door-to-door to educate target members of the public about the upcoming Run-off Special Election on September 19th. Conservation Voters of South Carolina are leaders in environmental policy and advocacy and they know South Carolina deserves a better leader who will show up and fight for housing, schools, and justice. Attorney and State Representative, Deon Tedder has shown he’s committed to leading the charge for women’s rights and moving towards a clean energy economy to stop climate change. We are looking for passionate staff to join our campaign to elect Deon Tedder for State Senate on Tuesday September 19th.
We are hiring immediately, all positions run through the end of the run-off election. Shifts run between 9:45am – 6:30pm weekdays and weekends with the possibility to work part-time or full-time. Additional shift times may be offered over the course of the campaign.
Get paid well! Petitioner positions start at $21/hour. Leadership positions start at $22.50/hour. We offer overtime pay, mileage reimbursements, paid training, and sick pay.
Stay Safe! We provide Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Petitioner Responsibilities ($21/hr+):
- Engage with the public in a friendly and respectful manner
- Deliver a compelling campaign message, and collect complete survey answers from voters
- Participate in staff training to improve outreach skills
- Strictly follow the campaign’s safety protocols, including the use of PPE and compliance with daily health and safety guidelines
Team Leader Responsibilities ($22.50/hr+):
- The Canvasser Responsibilities plus:
- Manage a small group of canvassers out in the field by checking in with them periodically throughout the day and debriefing with them at the end of the day
- Ensure each canvasser has all of the materials they need to be safe and successful
- Assist directors with canvasser training and administrative work
The ideal candidate:
- Passionate about this issue
- Strong communication skills; you should enjoy working with other people and be willing and excited to speak with everyone
- Hard worker who will stay motivated to engage as many people as possible
- Interested in building their campaign skills
- Culturally competent and able to respectfully engage with teammates and the community
- Prior canvassing experience is not required.
Location: Charleston, SC
