Full-Time Domestic Abuse Caseworker

Job Role: Domestic Abuse Caseworker    

Salary: £23,240 – £24,612            

Hours:  Full time – 37.5 hours  per week       

Contract type: Permanent

Location: Our office is based in Taunton however frequent travel across Somerset will be required

Additional information:

  • On-call (1 in 4 weeks), £100/week when on-call
  • A valid UK driving license and access to own vehicle with business insurance will be required

The Role

The successful Domestic Abuse Caseworker will provide holistic practical and emotional support for survivors of domestic abuse with a range of complex social and housing needs.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing practical and emotional support to survivors of domestic abuse in accordance with Julian House policies and procedures.
  • Conducting key work sessions on a regular basis and keeping casework records up to date.
  • Welcoming new residents, explaining and arranging for them to sign occupancy agreements, ensuring that they are aware of their options for moving on to more permanent accommodation and to develop a proactive move on strategy for individual residents.
  • Developing individual support and risk management plans which address the risk of harm to survivors of domestic violence and other forms of violence and abuse and their children, and to ensure that such plans are in place for each resident.
  • Recognising, respecting, and addressing the needs of clients who face barriers when seeking help to access the service, including those from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds, LGBT communities, disabled people, women with complex needs, men and other hard to reach groups.
  • Assessing benefit requirements of clients and ensure prompt take up of housing and other benefits.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • A good understanding of domestic abuse and trauma
  • Experience working with vulnerable adults and/or people with complex needs
  • A valid UK driving license and access to own vehicle – business insurance will be required for roles involving travel for work
