Are you an experienced public affairs professional?

Our client, an internationally acclaimed professional membership association, is now hiring for an experienced Public Affairs Advisor to join their growing team.

This role offers:

– Permanent/full time contract

– Hybrid working pattern – home-based combined with at least 4 times a month in beautiful HQ offices in Buckinghamshire

– Starting salary up to £37,000/annum

Our client

We are working with a prestigious professional membership organisation, one of its kind in the world. Our client has an amazing community of volunteers, and they are actively involved in organising events and activities at a regional level, to champion and foster the advancement of the profession.

Established in 1970s, and a registered charity, they develop qualifications and deliver learning opportunities, conduct research, and provide knowledge and resources for their members and professional community.

This client’s membership base is growing year on year and is likely to grow to a size of around 40k in the short term. Membership is comprised of individual members and corporate partners, both of which are spanned through 128 countries around the globe.

Their community of members and volunteers is highly engaged and actively involved in various parts of the organisation.

The Role

The main purpose of this role is to support and advise the Head of Policy and Public Affairs in ensuring the project profession builds its voice and influence across governments, parliaments, and wider stakeholders.

Responsibilities include:

• Help raise the profile, credibility & influence of our client with key individuals & audiences across the

public, private & voluntary sectors (including other professional bodies) and within government.

• Gather political intelligence and engage in regular horizon scanning to identify areas of government

and public concern that are relevant to our client’s policy priorities and to raise with the Head of Policy

and Public Affairs.

• Monitor and report on government, parliamentary and political party activity related to our client’s key issues and offer advice to internal colleagues on political issues.

• Support dissemination of our client’s research reports through public affairs plans.

The Person

The ideal candidate will be:

• Educated to degree level or experience from working in the political environment

• Good track record of stakeholder management and building partnerships across the public,

private and voluntary sectors

• Demonstrable experience of working in public policy, public affairs, public relations, or political work

• Effective influencing and networking skills with the ability to maintain and extend stakeholder and

customer relationships and to analyse and provide advice on complex issues.

• Outstanding communication skills, both in terms of written and oral work, with experience of

communicating effectively with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
